GWS GIANTS

Cooper Hamilton (delisted) – Carlton (VFL) and Rochester (Goulburn Valley FNL)

Adam Kennedy (retired) – Development Coach at Sydney Swans (AFL)

Brayden Preuss (delisted) – Yarragon (Ellinbank & District FNL)

Poor Preussy, the body let him down

Poor Preussy, the body let him down
he'll be forever plagued with what if's
plus side, he did get to be part of a professional sports organisation for the best part of a decade.

A few posters may find the first part of this Norths interview with Aidan Corr interesting. The first 3 minutes cover his childhood, then from there until around 11 minutes covers his time at the Giants. The next 3 or so minutes he talks about his move to Norths. Overall, he loved his time at GWS, and during the discussion about his move to Norths he talks about the vibe there being similar to the family feel at GWS. An interesting look back in time.

Found that a really good watch.
It endeared me to him a little more.
Was great that he spoke so positively about the Giants.

Recently delisted Demon Adam Tomlinson may be offered a last-minute opportunity to earn an AFL lifeline, with West Coast considering the 185-gamer as an SSP signing.

Tomlinson was delisted in October, with the Magpies and Saints reportedly circling the veteran. The key backman said he had spoken to Collingwood and Gold Coast about a potential third home during his AFL career but was not picked up as a delisted free agent.

However, less than three weeks away from the close of the SSP window, West Coast are "strongly considering" signing the swingman, per the Herald Sun's Jay Clark, giving Tomlinson the chance to continue his footballing career.

Tomlinson reportedly met with the Eagles' list manager Matt Clarke last week in Victoria to discuss his prospects of heading to Western Australia as a train-on player, and potentially even gain the Eagles' final list spot.

The 31-year-old would be vying with former Sun Sandy Brock, who has been training with the club since the SSP window opened in November, as well as ex-Saint James Van Es - another key defender.

Tomlinson is better than both those guys
I reckon he'd get games if they signed him.

Hopper draws on early AFL days at GWS as Tigers rebuild

Story by Roger Vaughan

Jacob Hopper is in familiar AFL territory - a club trying to climb the ladder as quickly as possible, blessed with a crop of talented young kids.

Where Richmond and Hopper find themselves now has some parallels to when he joined GWS a decade ago, as the No.7 draft pick in the 2015 draft.

Hopper missed the hard years of the re-build, he arrived the first year we started making semies.

Perryman seems to be happy with his Collingwood move - really hope we win a premiership before the so called “powerhouse” Collingwood!

The 26-year-old has noticed a distinct difference since moving to a powerhouse Victorian club like Collingwood and is eager to experience football in the state.

Perryman has relished learning from experienced teammates like Steele Sidebottom and Scott Pendlebury, as well as getting an up-close look at some of the game’s rising stars.
He was full of praise for young gun Nick Daicos, calling him an “unbelievable footballer”. He also highlighted Pat Lipinski’s impact, noting that the smooth-mover has “flown under the radar” and has surprised him with his ability.

New coach Craig McRae has also left a strong impression on Perryman who commended the 2023 premiership winner's ability to build strong relationships with his players off the field.

Hope he spoons it up

I stand by my hope he spoons it comment 😤
Yes, agree. He maybe saying the standard new club PR, but I think Perryman if he had stayed with us would have had experienced team mates he could learn from, play with up and coming talent that is the equal of any in the competition, as well as superstars that are the envy of the league. And Kingsley is an exceptional coach…

Don’t blame Perryman for leaving given the $ thrown at him by Collingwood, but will be interesting to see if McRae can succeed in making him an elite midfielder

A LARGE part of Collingwood's success this season could hinge on the club being able to achieve what Greater Western Sydney, through both trial and differing circumstances, couldn't in years gone by.

Among a busy Trade Period at the AIA Centre last October, the acquisition of Giants free agent Harry Perryman on a six-year deal worth around $900,000 per season was certainly among the splashiest of the Magpies' moves.

Perryman was targeted by Collingwood to play as a midfielder. It's a role that the Giants, through multiple coaches and across multiple different seasons, trialled him in, stopped, trialled him in again, then stopped again.

Perryman had some nice touches but it's hard to imagine him ever becoming the type of midfielder that dominates. Compare that to Finn, who tore them to shreds.
There was a photograph from the game on Sunday showing Callaghan tearing away while Perryman looked on.

A picture speaks a thousand words...
