Big Bad Bustling Bazza!

Geez I loved him when he was with us & firing. Sadly though, he's jumped ship from the swans - probably before he was to be pushed though. I'm actually a bit sad he's not playing anymore (this year). Will we see the Bulldogs pick him up next year? Would he come back to the place that he 'had' to leave to get a new life/career start? Could he maybe go to Brisbane? Will he just get straight into the ring MF under the guidence of the Green Machine?

Anyway here's an aside:
Years ago there was a game against Geelong (I think) that was moved to the MCG from the Dome as the surface was shot from a concert or similar. We had to go do a u-turn on Bruntun Ave to get into the car park. Bazza was in his flatbed ute (complete with the big exhaust pipes coming up vertically behind the cabin) in front of us & did one of the biggest smoky fishtales I've seen - apart from those I used to perform. Parked next to him under the G "Nice burnout Baz, good luck today" - 10 sub octaves below - "thanks".

Unfortunately he symbolised the single minded desire the AFL had for Sydney to be successful with the most ridiculous tribunal decision in history.

The most undeserving premiership player of my lifetime. In the end, he is a Premiership player and captain - which he wouldnt have been if he stayed with St Kilda so good luck to him.

But dont expect me to feel for a guy who sucker punches one of my clubs favorites, 100 metres from the ball while he wasnt watching.

Good bye, good riddance.

I like Barry Hall.

Well, I didn't like him - of course - after the Matt Maguire incident (I disliked the AFL tribunal even more for their most ridiculous explanation to allow him to play in the grand final), but as Percy would say : forgive (love) your enemies, even Barry Hall.

Yes, he appears out of control at times (on the field - I don't care what he does off the field), but he was one of the last real characters in the AFL. On his day, he was an excitement machine and I loved to watch the big No 1 crush into poor defenders in his way or fight himself out of some desperate tackles.

And let's remain fair about it : there are quite a few footballers with equal or more suspensions throughout their career (including his predecessor) !

I hope the Bulldogs pick him up - the AFL would not be the same without Big Bad Bazza.

the fact that he raised a premiership cup and not brett kirk is one of sports biggest travesties.

I liked him when he wasn't playing against us, was always good value but **** he was a prick.

I think he'd be great for the Dogs, but I don't reckon they'd recruit him on principle.

After our 3rd win in Round 12 of 2001, we got beaten by :
39
57
97
34
12
92
11
44
87

Come round 22 I was ready with the electric razor to give my wrists a workout.

Thankfully "Deep Throat" was able to kick the sealer. I'll cut him a bit of slack for that, and also playing a few woeful games against us with the Swans.

But he was always a f-wit.

I admired the careers of Spider, Plugger, Joel Smith, Dean Rice, Matthew Lappin and the 2 Wakelins (and even Guerra) after leaving us, but not Hall.

:thumbsu: - too much of a liability for the dogs to recruit IMO.

Freo don't seem to mind liabilities however........... ( * cough* tarrant *cough*)

Don't really care about him, Didn;t mind when he left the saints.

After that prelim ... hated him.

the fact he has a premiership & harvs does not shits me (I am not saying it influenced the game - just doesn't deserve the gift from AFL.)

*although I agree if he swung at scarlett I might have respected him a little more ;)

I always liked Barry Hall as a player, when he was with us and when he first started playing for the Swans. He was good to watch when he was playing well. Didn't care much for his lack of discipline at times but he got a pretty rough deal from opponents and umpires at the same time. Similar to Plugger in a lot of ways, although nowhere near as talented.

I certainly wasn't happy with him for the punch on Maguire in the prelim, although I'm still glad he played in the GF the next week and helped the Swans beat West Coast. Would have been a poorer spectacle without him.

I'd be surprised if any other clubs picked him up now, with his age and disciplinary record. He should make a decent boxer though.

Interesting watching Footy Classified that Grant Thomas still has a lot of time for him. I always thought they never saw eye to eye hence Baz departing when Thommo got the job done. It looks like I'm wrong.

I think Barry should turn his back on AFL and turn to UFC fighting. I'd love to see barry 'jaw breaker' hall fighting for australia in the UFC championship or Cage Fighting. This guys made for MMA.:p

Seems like a cleaner fit, esp with Pav spending more time in the middle. Could Freo actually 'manage' him though? I'd think not.
I'd say freo would be the smoky if there is one. But if paul roos and the swans can't manage him, I agree that I dunno how freo could.

yep, Freo never received any awards for behavioural excellence for some of their past players. However I heard Farmer got an award for being out standing in his field ...

Bulldogs are in the same position as us with Cousins, seemingly the last piece to their premiership puzzle is there, staring them in the face, but the gamble could be cost way too much. Dogs won't take him, Barry will turn his back on AFL.

BBBBBBBHBHBHBBHH should seriously persue Boxing, Could be a very rich man if he was to fight Mundine/Sonny Bill and co.

Hall has admitted (to be broadcast on Fox Footy tomorrow) that he should have been suspended.

Hall "I was very lucky. It is a good thing we had a good QC."

"You have seen me hit him, obviously it was deliberate."

"It probably hit him in the sweet spot. I could certainly have hit him harder."

It not that he had a good QC, it more lucky that he played for Sydney and the AFL want them to succeed at all costs.

The real injustice is that it cost us the match.
