Exact AFL umpire whistle used

Hello,

I have started to umpire AFL games over here in the States. I bought an ACME Thunderer off Amazon, as suggested. It turned out to be the Model # 477/60.5. It's loud as ****, so it does the job, but it is a higher pitch than I'm used to in AFL. I love that deeper tone of the AFL whistle.

Can someone tell me please the exact model used in the AFL? And do umpires typically use a plastic or metal whistle? Finally, any shops/links that sell them in the US would be much appreciated.

The metal whistle is the Acme Thunderer 477/5.5 and the plastic version is the 577. The 577 comes in black and green.

I thought they used metal which has a removable plastic cover on it

Vast majority use the plastic whistles, I have both the plastic and metal ones, go through a new plastic one each year or two but strangely it sounds much better than the metal ones.
