• You need to understand that Team X have played for together longer.
• You need to understand that Team X already had a system in place which has fast tracked their rebuild.
• I predicted that we would be no good for years after culling the list in 2020.
• Our senior types keep on letting us down.

I like it but the first one needs to be dynamic. It starts at 30 then when that figure is reached automatically add 10 until the total reaches 100 at which point they fall into the ‘senior players letting our young guns down’ category.

I’m a bit confused.. if failure to kick straight is a criticism and Zurhaar (as is customary) failed to kick straight in a reasonably close game, doesn’t he deserve criticism? And wasn’t he then somewhat responsible for us not winning the game?

Cam Zurhaar was our best player and his constant misses and selfishness definitely didn't cost us that game.

BTW Failure to kick straight isn't an excuse. Its a criticism.

I blame the home ground , it’s cursed. Since inception 2 tenants have won a flag . Once in the first yr the other was a rare feat. It’s no good I tell ya, plus the crowds are always lower because many just won’t go there.

Hi all,

Just thought I would make it was easier for those making excuses for this lot

When we lose please reference this thread and use one of the below

At the end of the season I’ll be giving out a two prizes, one for whoever uses the most original excuse and one for who uses the most laughable

• (Insert team) were primed, they had to win this
• If we kick straight we win that
• The umpires cost us that game
• We were trying some stuff it’s only round (insert round here)
• It will be different next time we play them, look how much we lost by last time, this was much better
• The heat/cold/wind/no roof/rain/bright sun really hindered us
• We don't lose this game if its played at Marvel/Hobart
• Team needs more time to gel together
• Rebuilds take time
• It’s really only Clarkos first year if you think about it
• The (team we lost to) are in the hunt for a flag, we can’t compare
• Injuries cost us
• A lot to like and plenty to learn, this loss will keep us in good stead
• You can’t expect over night success
• I hear a bug/flu/covid/syphillis went through the team during the week
• Take out the first/second/third/fourth quarter and we win that game
• They jumped us!
• Lost it at the selection table!
• Teams seem to always kick lucky goals against us

1st Q was diabolical, esp after a long preseason dedicated to that moment ffs

We won the midfield battle somehow. That to me is probably the big takeaway. Without some stars and without any particular structure, there were patches where we blew them apart in there, with a bunch of kids. We are building a team that you are gonna need to be switched on just to go with us. Dogs came to play. And took their opportunities well.

I'm happy we lost by a smallish margin as a big defeat would have me feeling you're correct.

We might be garbage for another few years but at the moment, this garbage has:
1. Wardlaw,
2. Eventually Duursma,
3. a fitter Simpkin who was real good I thought (in patches) in the guts.
4. WDawson
5. MWhitlock
6. BGeorge
7. CHarvey (the lazy little member has some talent)
8. A McCartney.

Still to come, I think.

Like **** (I get I'm deluded) and we will need some luck but, I'm convinced enough after that effort we're heading in the right direction.

I think fair. Forwards always live or die by the sword.

It is one thing to miss when your opportunities are >50m, tough pockets or snaps under pressure. When you have a handful of set shots 30-40m out and miss 5 out of 6 then yeah, you've only had an ok day.

Absolutely.

It's by no means an attack on him, he had a decent game and 2 kicks go better it's a great game. It happens. If it happens too often that's another story altogether.

yep, that's exactly the problem. happens too often and the fact he's guilty of being greedy/taking shots he shouldn't definitely doesn't help either.

he's good at getting involved, getting into good positions and impacting the game but he hasn't matured since being drafted in terms of his decision-making process or ability in front of goals.

by anyone's definition though - even one with the most negative view on him would rank him in our top 10 players.

I recently read "NMFC is an indoor football team". Just a shame most finals are outdoors.
