It means Leppa has conscripted his family into trying to get the young ones to stay.

I predict an invitation to Yeo for the family's Sunday roast will be the next point of escalation.
Adds to it that Leppa and Yeo share the same birthday. :thumbsu:

On the Brisbane Lions Facebook page.

Happy Birthday to young Lion Elliot Yeo who turns 20 today.

Get around him today with a birthday message and let's hope he is celebrating his 21st in Lions colours.

Personally ive now come to terms with the fact we won't have these boys with us next year.Trying to find a positive ,so have turned my bitterness into excitement of who we may get out of this. I want players that want to be at our club. Its certainly frustrating, but i'm sure some positives will come from this. Just to show i'm still feeling a little annoyed, i hope these boys do a knee or the like at their new club next year. ;)

Does this all come down to some of these players being linked to Vossy's axing and then senior players coming out and saying they would be disappointed in these blokes considering some aren't in the senior team. Is there a toxic culture in our playing group?

All teams have sub groups so I wouldn't think i'd put it down to that. Manny Lynch seems more culpable to me. He might have been asleep at the wheel and not noted the lack of inclusion if it occurred. I would also blame the crazy process of selection one week to substitute the next and playing Polkinghorne.

How are we going to an attractive option too any sought after player? We're known as the "club you leave" not the one you select as a gun player.

In terms of player exodus... how is Springfield likely to be viewed by Brisbane players, as compared to the Gabba (or an alternate location)? I know nothing about Brisbane geography but if I look on a map, to me Springfield looks like Greater Western Brisbane...

A lot has been made of the Saints move the Seaford. Apparently it's a state of the art venue, but it's also miles from anywhere that a player would want to live and the Saints players hate going there.

I imagine if I was a young footballer coming from interstate I would want to be living close to the beach or the city. If I was facing the prospect of having to trek miles down a highway every working day of my life for the next 10 years, then I'd be looking at other options also.

(I'm no young footballer, but many years ago I moved to Sydney as a graduate. I lived as close to the beach as I could afford which basically meant living up the road from Long Bay... not exactly a desirable location - but still infinitely better than heading out west!).

Anyone heard anything about a floated Rockliff for pick two trade? Not my rumour, just been hearing it.

Keep hearing this scuttlebutt down here, Melbourne pushing to get a quality mid for pick 2.

Can't see him going anywhere, seems very passionate about the Lions, potential future captain, good mates with Redden. I wouldn't let him go for pick 2.

Fig Tree Pocket, Kenmore and the surrounding suburbs is one of the nicer areas of Brisbane to live. 20 minute drive to Springfield. Lived in Fig Tree Pocket for most of my life and it's only 20 minutes to the city and with the new tunnel being built it will be even quicker. I'd be surprised if anyone really had a problem with it.

This may seem a silly idea but from a player welfare point of view, especially for the very young players who are new recruits into the AFL, would it be good if we could get a female who essentially acts as a mother figure for these guys (do we have something like this?).
