You can do all the interviews u want, it doesn't matter, attitudes can change once they get here. Some if our clubs biggest stars struggled early on, we simply have to take the risk with players, and focus our efforts into making our club a place they want to stay, meaning a good environment on and off field. With sub par facilities and a 2nd rate reserves comp and underfunded footy department, it isn't easy. Needs to be a focus going forward, and it's something Leppa is obviously working on making the entire list go to Arizona as his first big decision.

There seems to be a massive assumption here - that there are types who will want to go home and types that won't and we have been recruiting too many of the former. I don't accept that. For years clubs have been successfully recruiting players based on ability, skill set and need. The fact that a player may or may not feel the pull of home has never been a major factor in their decision making. The theory has always been, if we create the right environment and have a successful team, they won't want to leave. Nothing much has changed imo, except that we as a club clearly haven't created the right environment and haven't been successful, of late. Turn those things around and the problem will largely disappear.

Good input Quigley, some fresh angles and I agree that any new board would have to review Kerr and our recruiting procedures. I think the picks themselves have been good and the talent is good, but having them all return home, some in only their second year is concerning. Compare this to the bunch of young players before them who have all signed back up quickly and seem I love the place, they are worlds apart, something has changed and we need to fix it. Any extra money we get needs to be put to development and player welfare much more than game day staff or coaches box. With our academy kicking into gear I think it's even more important, it's one advantage we do have, and we need to Maximise it.

Also Haso seems to be implying that psych tests are infallible and that is laughable.
Quigley, this is 100% not what I was suggesting. I have no idea where in my posts you got that from. No psychologist will ever tell you that tests are more than a brief snapshot at a moment in time of a candidates preferences, and must only be used as a guide to decision making.

They just said on SEN, a caller I think it was, that Melbourne are chasing Rockliff. It might've been more a question than a statement, I only half heard it.

I think Mannys style is to teach the kids how to do it for themselves, get them lessons in cooking, cleaning, changing the tires on a car, paying bills to do all the stuff their own parents would be teaching them. Different ideas for player development, but I think for the long run, the way our club does it for the players would be more beneficial for the players themselves instead of being coddled like they seem to enjoy.

Yep.. Pies and Hawks have similar programs.

According to Trade Radio (ha ha), apparently Jacksch from GWS may want to return home to Melbourne too.

I'm beginning to see a pattern between the homesick exodus from the Lions and GWS.... dlanod I think you may be a jinx.
Look, I always hang up if one of the draftees answer the phone. I don't want to creep them out.
