As per the Premier League
With the first 8 players drafted the cake is baked and we’re about to apply the icing and hopefully the odd cherry or 2.
Here’s a quick review, potential injuries aside, based on last years stats and rookie stats subbed for similarish players.
Strengths = top 3 in category
Weaknesses = bottom 3 in category
Numbers before player = Falchoons player rater
Billy The Kid
4 James,Lebron CLE
19 Ming,Yao HOU
28 Gay,Rudy MEM
32 Dunleavy,Mike IND
77 Harris,Devin NJN
75 Greg Oden
110 Derrick Rose
148 Rondo,Rajon BOS
Billy was looking like the worst team in the draft, until I worked out my Sumif formula started in row 32 whilst Lebron was in row 31, here’s a tip Billy, you’re no good without LeBron.
Strengths – fg%
Weaknesses – none
A very even team across the categories with a strong lean towards younger improving players with upside (though Oden lifts the average age to 45), only Rose has a potential impact on a strong FG%. FT is his weakest category with LeBron but the strategy of 4 straight 80% shooters from rounds 2-5 has negated the impact.
Best pick – Oden at 6 could be a bargain
Rank 5
Falchoon
(Generally favoured by Falchoons ranking system)
10 Nowitzki,Dirk DAL
9 Granger,Danny IND
26 Martin,Kevin SAC
17 Kaman,Chris LAC
23 Jackson,Stephen GSW
38 Crawford,Jamal NYK
133 Lee,David NYK
114 Martin,Kenyon DEN
Strengths - FT%/Points
Weaknesses – assists/steals/FG%
5 20 point scorers and all bar Kenyon Martin above average, Jamal Crawford as starting PG points to a significant weakness in assists, steals is the most competitive category but is another weakness. Having Crawford and Jackson on the same team is always going to cruel FG% without dominant big man.
Best pick, Martin at 3
Rank 4
Geecat
2 Paul,Chris NOR
99 Howard,Dwight ORL
33 Duncan,Tim SAS
53 Redd,Michael MIL
59 Durant,Kevin SEA
97 Foye,Randy MIN
80 O'neal,Jermaine IND
156 Parker,Tony SAS
Strengths – Points/assists/blocks
Weaknesses - 3’s/TO/FT%
5 20 point scorers and no poor scorers, Paul carries assists by himself (no one seems to have concentrated on assists in either of my leagues) Paul and Parker are basically good enough for a top 3 rank, 3 solid blockers.
3 guys who can’t/won’t hit a 3 and only redd and Foye above average, FT% = Howard, only Morpheus with Okafor is close.
Best Pick - Chris Paul (wraps up 2 categories almost by himself) though picks 5,6 & 7 have massive potential upside
Rank 6
Hans Moleman
56 Wade,Dwyane MIA
51 Jefferson,Al MIN
43 West,David NOR
40 Turkoglu,Hedo ORL
55 Williams,Maurice MIL
60 Dalembert,Samuel PHI
66 Bibby,Mike ATL
132 Randolph,Zach NYK
Strengths – Rebounds
Weaknesses – Steals/TO
Champion of the even contribution does it again, has gone for a lot of 2 category players here with a leaning toward big, 4 solid rebounders with little penchant for the steal, Wade is a turnover machine
Best Pick - Mo at 5 looks handy given the dearth of 2nd tier PG’s
Rank 11
