Would like to make an expansion team the way the American teams do.

The rules are simple,

expansion team able to select 2 players from each team

Each current team can protect 15 players

All players drafted in 2014 & 2015 are exempt

All rookies are available for selection unless protected

All I need is a list from each team submitted to make my expansion team, so If any one would like to do there team let me no.

I think 15 is probably correct.

From the Hawks:

Untouchable: 1. Cyril Rioli 2. Jack Gunston 3. Isaac Smith 4. James Frawley 5. Luke Bruest 6. Liam Shiels 7. Ben Stratton 8. Tom Mitchell 9. Jaeger O'Meara 10. Jonothan Ceglar 11. Kaiden Brand 12. Brendan Whitecross 13. Tyrone Vickery 14. James Sicily 15. Luke Hodge

Omitted: Jarryd Roughead (would be in the list, but if we're talking real-world circumstances, no team would try to take him from the Hawks at the moment anyway).

Available: Will Langford, Billy Hartung, Taylor Duryea, Jonothan O'Rourke, Grant Birchall, Tim O'Brien, Ryan Schoenmakers, Paul Puopolo, Ben McEvoy, Kurt Heatherley, Shaun Burgoyne*, Josh Gibson*

*Would almost expect them to retire if selected

Recent draftees: Ryan Burton, Kieren Lovell, Blake Hardwick, Daniel Howe, Teia Miles, Marc Pittonet, Kade Stewart, Luke Surman

In the spirit of 1987, Carlton will offer Michael Jamison, Jayden Foster and Adre Everitt to this expansion team.

The Three Bears
Each of the current VFL Clubs were instructed to provide 3 players of their list to the incoming Brisbane Bears for Season 1987, to assist the new team form a competitive list. These 3 players each had to have either played senior football during 1986, or had played in the 1986 Reserves Finals. Carlton, as Reigning VFL Reserves Premiers, would appear to have had a strong list to choose from.

Carlton would first offer to Brisbane the following 3 players:

Only Kenny would make it to Brisbane, and play a game, but in the ensuing discussions over Carlton's 'Three Bears' Neil Gaghan would also agree to go to Brisbane.

David Glascott's brother, Stuart (an ex- Carlton Under 19's player), would also play seniors with Brisbane in 1987, but was not part of the deal, as would Mark Buckley who came via St Kilda. Both players played 4 games in 1987, the last year of their VFL / AFL careers. Another former Carlton reserves player Danny Noonan would also play senior footy at the Brisbane Bears after spending time on the Carlton list.

What's the point of this ?

What's the point of this ?
Just highlights the absurdity of previous attempts by the AFL/VFL to develop a good way to 'recruit/develop' a new list from scratch... And the ways in which other clubs manipulated these systems..

Those players who are "too old" are the ones that will bring immediate success while the younger ones develop.
