A favorable run with injuries and we're top 8 I'd say.

Returning shaz,Ramsey,keefe gives greater depth... meaning we won't have to persist with out of form players like we did brown and Williams this year. Recruiting wells,mayne,WHE adds run and pace

Given our ladder position we should get a reasonably good draw

None.

Young man's game now and comp as close as a bee's dick. Pies one of 12 teams that could win it if all goes right. Alternatively bottom 4 it it all goes wrong. It is that close.

My expectations are pretty much always the same:

1. Recruiters pick good footballers (sounds idiotic in its simplicity but in reality there still an element of witchcraft involved).

2. Players have a genuine crack each week.

3. Players prepare themselves as well as possible.

4. Coach gets the best out of his players and has a gameplan to achieve that.

5. Club gives the coaches and players every opportunity to achieve success.

So for next year:

We smash 5 out of the park. No probs there.

2 has usually been good for us but there were some real inconsistencies this year. I love having Treloar and Adams the club. Their attitude to footy is just what I like to see, especially Adams. More of that please.

1 has also been a strength but I can't figure out what we are doing with KPPs lately. Moore was a free hit, after all. Expecting a year of consolidation as we don't have the currency to do too much this year.

3? Players will be trained hard (and hopefully smart, but who really knows?). My specific expectation for 2017 is that all players stay off the f***ing gear, thank you very much.

4... Well, he either does that or he gets the arse, so it's time to start producing. Finals please.

1. Nobody will know what our gameplan is except Bucks' evil artificial intelligence whiteboard he has named Skynet. Despite this (or because of it), we will make the bottom half of the 8, Bucks will get an extension.
2. Someone in the team will do something stupid on social media or get in trouble with the law. This will quite likely involve penises somehow or other.
3. Ed will put his foot in it and offend some obscure minority that he has has not offended before. Like Women.
4. Tradedraft will be eating twisties and posting stuff on Bigfooty for the entire year.

Thread is 2017 predictions
not what happened in 2016:p

Was very optimistic at the start of this year but not quite as positive now.

With the young talent on our list, a fair draw and some luck with injuries (especially to key players) we should be certain finalists (5th to 8th) with 14 to 15 wins. With a bit of pace and experience in Mayne/Wells/WHE maybe even a bit higher and if we can bring in another gun forward in 2018 then we're back on track and looking at sustained success.

Some things we need for 2017 success:

Grundy to stay fit and in form (especially if Witts is gone);
Moore to stay fit and get support from other forwards (can't allow him to be double teamed every week like Cloke was);
Adams to stay fit (although not our best midfielder he's probably our most important);
Fasolo, Elliot, Scharenberg, Ramsay, Sinclair, Marsh, etc... all to stay fit and available;
Pendles to return to full form (the last two years he has seemed just a bit off his best);
Sidebottom to fulfil his potential (he has so much potential but just seems to be cruising at 75%);
The game plan to be clear, simple and the players to adhere to it (including add some pace and dare);
The forward line to add manic pressure to keep the ball in there;
The midfield to maximise its potential dominance - with Treloar, Adams, DeGoey, Pendles, Grundy, etc we should be dominating this part of the ground.

My expectations are that:
  1. We will be playing finals in 2017 (In Bucks we trust) or
  2. if we don't make finals, there are changes made. (In Bucks we trust no more)
I was OK with Bucks moving in to coach with MM as his mentor, that did not happen and I think the Club has given Bucks every opportunity to get us on the right path, 2017 is do or do not.
Finals?

It all really comes down to injuries. I think we have a decent best 22 with a good midfield. If we can keep anywhere close to our best 22 on the park then we'll go ok.

I'd really just like a year where I can judge Buckley with his best line-up on the park. If we field a strong team in 2017 and still finish poorly, then Buckley obviously won't have a hope in hell of surviving. I feel as if he has only survived this long because he has been forced to coach a very injury depleted side for so long.

I personally have a bit of a bad feeling about 2017, but then again I had a good feeling about 2016. It's really just hard to gauge right now. I'd love to know exactly what morale is like inside the group after a big clean-out in trade period.

Quite simply, a game plan that can be executed, quality foots kills and decision making, more wins and ultimately finals.

If this does not occur, it will be a new beginning in 2018.

This thread needs an immediate injection of BBB, but sadly I think he is gone forever. He'd tell it like it is, crush our hopes, mock our confidence, threaten violence, and go...pfft
Why do you think he is gone forever?

Why do you think he is gone forever?

I cant find his user name when I search 'members'. Indicates (to me anyway) that he has cancelled his account. Happy to be corrected on that.

I suppose 'forever' is a long time. BBB may come back again in another guise, to threaten and taunt us...

Expectations 2017

Win more games
Better run with injuries
Scaharenberg to emerge
Big footy melts
Buckley gets blamed for.... (does it matter)
Forward area of Moore supported by Elliot, Hoskin-Elliot, Fasolo
Wells to be silky
Grundy putting it all together
De Goey taking the next step
Still enjoying the races (personal indulgence)

My expectations are low, and will probably sink lower. I was more positive at the end of the season, but don't like much of what I've seen since. There is an odour emanating from Gubby. Makes me very nervous.

Pass mark:
- Scharenberg replaces Pendlebury in the midfield, Bucks pushes him forward and he kicks sixty for the season.
- Dekka performs one of those trade mark smiles while explaining how the new draftees, F/S made their way to the club through the draft.
- We flog Hawthorn by six goals, the world is caving in around them.
- The Richmond footy club capitulates into oblivion once again.
- Sier debuts.
- Elliot kicks 50
- Mayne gets a haircut.
- CFC becomes the number one rated team in the AFL going Coast to Coast.
- Eddie gets caught placing small wager on Caroline Wilsons ability to hold her breath under water at the G, big freeze celebrations.
- No body gets caught using performance enhancing drugs.
- And finaly we make the eight squeezing out Melbourne for another year.

Not too much to ask I don't think!

lf we keep our best side on the park we will push for top 8, an injury run similiar to this year and it will be Bucks last year as coach....Moore and Hoskin-Elliott to ignite our forward line, so much so they will be called the "the most exciting double act in the competition".....Wells to play 15-20 quality games and be the difference in a few wins through the season...Mayne to prove the doubters wrong and kick 25-35 goals for the year plus have the highest number of pressure acts in F50 for the club....Callum Brown to play 4-6 games for the year and show he is going to be a star of the future....Daicos to play the year finding his feet at VFL level...Josh Thomas to play out of skin and fit straight back into the midfield.....Elliott and Scharenberg both to show how much they were missed in 2016.....
