For the first time in 4 years I think we will play finals next season. We have improved our list enough during the trade week. Upgraded on all the players we lost significantly. Keefe isn't worse than Brown and Frost, Dunn has better skills than them and I would say he is a better player. Mayne isn't a star but he will play a crucial role in the forward that is under rated but what we have lacked a lot. Wells is the number one ranked player for effective kicks inside 50 and to say we have struggled in that area is an understatement. Hoskin Elliot will thrive with consistent game time and his run from the back and his skills will be huge.

The doubts I have are obviously with our injuries and consistency through out the season. We know when we play well we can beat anyone but that needs to be a lot more often than what it was this year and there is never an excuse for a lack of effort.

If the Dogs can do it from what they were, in two years with a very young squad and half the resources they have than us then why can't we even make the 8 with a young and talented list. Our list is ahead of what the Dogs had two years ago on talent and they made the 8 so I expect to make the 8 and there is no reason why anyone else shouldn't really.

Pendles, Sidebottom, Treloar and Adams in the middle with Grundy. That's not a lack of talent but an under performing and inconsistent midfield that put our back line under the pump every week. I believe that's a problem that can be fixed and we will play finals. 4-9th is where we can finish depending on how we play but if I had to pick a spot I would go with 6th.

This is my best side.

Maynard (186cms 86kgs) Dunn (192cms 95kgs) Howe (190cms 86kgs)
Sinclair (180cms 83kgs) Reid (195cms 96kgs) Scharenberg (191cms 86kgs)
Wells (181cms 82kgs) Pendlebury (191cms 88kgs) Varcoe (180cms 82kgs)
Grundy (203cms 102kgs) Treloar (182cms 85kgs) Adams (181cms 82kgs)
DeGoey (187cms 83kgs) Moore (200cms 94kgs) Sidebottom (180cms 85kgs)
Fasolo (181cms 81kgs) White (196cms 102kgs) Elliott (178cms 81kgs)
Aish (182cms 78kgs) Mayne (188cms 88kgs) Cox (211cms 110kgs) Crisp (190cms 91kgs)

That's what I think the best 22 will look like. It's actually quite a tall side IMO as in not so many dwarfs. If Broomhead gets a clean run he could break out. I also think Josh Thomas will give the best 22 a shake, as will Keeffe. WHE, Smith, Ramsay, Langdon and Marsh are a few others who will provide obvious depth.

1.) Pendlebury
2.) Treloar
3.) Grundy
4.) Reid
5.) Wells
6.) Adams
7.) Sidebottom
8.) Moore
9.) Elliott
10.) Howe
11.) Fasolo
12.) Varcoe
13.) Sinclair
14.) Degoey
15.) Crisp
16.) Dunn
17.) Aish
18.) White
19.) Mayne
20.) Cox
21.) Scharenberg
22.) Broomhead
23.) Thomas
24.) Keeffe
25.) Greenwood
26.) Maynard
27.) Ramsay
28.) Langdon
29.) Smith
30.) Marsh
31.) WHE
32.) Wills
33.) Goldsack
34.) Crocker
35.) Blair
36.) Oxley
37.) Phillips
38.) Sier

That's how I rate the list, but it'll change every week, I think Thomas and Keeffe could be great additions. We lack the absolute guns at the top, although there are a number of players who could step up, but we have one of the best lists as far as depth goes. Not too many out and out spuds, and Jesse White remembering was a good player last year with x-factor.

Blair and Oxley will be lucky to get games, Blair should only get games in case of a lot of injuries. I think people should consider getting in early and putting money on us to make the eight.
Generally a good 22 and I only have little quibles eg Maynard & Ramsay are probably too low in your rankings and Thomas too high (club has elevated Smith ahead of him) and it's looking like a list size of 39 and Cox would be the obvious choice for nominated rookie so Thomas would be reliant on LTI just to get a look in. Doubt they've recruited WHE to be 31 on list either.
Will also be times when they only play two talls forward so one of Cox & White will miss assuming Moore fit.
Your summation of Blair may be more accurate for midway through the season than at the start given he did finish 10th in the copeland. Some of the others need form and fitness to push past him.

It'll all come together for top 4 but really nobody wins another flag until the AFL has finished gifting flags to NSW.

Met Maxwell at the races yesterday. When my wife pointed out that I was a Collingwood supporter, he told me he thinks we won't win another flag for a while. Reckons the club's making a lot of stupid decisions at the moment. That's as far as he went.

Still a bit strange seeing as though he doesn't know me from a bar of soap, but anyway.

Hence my post what he said about buckley...but in usual big footy fashion i got shot down....
Lets be honest we are a joke of a club at the moment.....even teams like st kilda melbourne the dogs are making us look second rate......our ego is too big.....pathetic

Heard hes been telling that line to all thatll listen lately contract at gws must be up next year time to make some irrelevant noise to try and make himself relevent again in a contract year smart man...... if he honestly thinks we didnt have similar probs in 2011 2012 (10+ players self reporting) when he was skipper hes in flipping business man mode all the way..
Maxwells opinion is that of a outsider now a days any way has about as much currency as our comments/opinions on bigfooty ....not a hellava lot.......if it was pendles making that quote id be a bit worried a retired ex captain working for the opposition with no involvement in the club anymore not so much

I honestly share the same view with you on this. I would've liked to get some more information as to what he meant though, but oh well. Wouldn't have even played with most of the guys on our list now.

Seems he's not a fan of what Bucks is doing. I've been saying it for 5 years.

I don't think we are. Letting Tapping go was surprising. Unless he is talking about Balme leaving, I don't see the brig issue from a list management point of view other than not getting value for players like Marley and Witts. Maybe he is also shitty about Leading Teams being cut?

And this is relayed by someone who usually sugarcoates everything that happens to us of late.

Still...can see how the 10 or so special units on here will question the legitimacy of this post and even turn it into a positive for the Club :thumbsu:

You just never know. Maybe he's upset that some of his mates get told to retire pre-30 and then we go and recruit the likes of Wells?

All I did was thank him for winning us a flag and that's what got him going. Like I said though, he didn't say much.

Maybe he's upset we're dropping Star Athletic?

I know a couple ex players from Swans pretty closely from when they were players to now retired but still close to club maybe they are a different breed to Pies ex players. What I do know is that no matter how much I dig they are not forthcoming in talking about players, officials prospects etc of their club.

On the other side of the spectrum are the melters who see every form of criticism on Collingwood as proof that the sky is falling, we are heading for a spoon and Bucks must be sacked now.

I don’t question the legitimacy of the story. Nothing new in it. Another MM disciple joining the chorus line.
