the end is nigh for more than a couple of teams falling away from of their so called 'dine-isties' coupled with a lot of emotional and financial baggage weighing down key figures @ some clubs at the close of their time this is not ideal, the fall is sudden,RFC is proof, and the Dawks b4 us that the fall is swift and can be dramatic it takes no prisoners, theres a hellava lot of used up jaded baggage running around in the CFL come 2026,interesting season beckons

I think Geelong will fall off the perch this year ;) ;) ;) :D:D:D

I've been saying that since their average age went over 30 - about 20 years ago.

Although I reckon they will start to become more a 5-8 team now. Slowly lose that edge and be unable to draft good kids. End u in the zone of death, making finals 50% of the time, but that's it.

Gotta say I'm reasonably confident, in fact Sportsbet welched out on the original wager and i had to downsize it

If Tommy kicks 8 and Sammy has 30 touches against those Baggers, We are off to a good start

and if you are betting, gamble responsibly and don't do anything stupid :p ;)

Why not just donate the money instead

Don't be such a Karen, Lynch kicks 4 in the first game and we win, sam plays well, I could probably quadruple my 32 cent bet by cashing out if i wanted. :D
I see Sam is balking at an extension

I think 8 wins is achievable. Our backline is strong, the forward line has real promise and competition for spots, the only area I have question marks over is our midfield. As Geelong showed in our last game of the 2025 season, we lack speed, élite execution and defensive running (which Michael highlighted in his excellent clip when reviewing highlights from a preseason intra-club hit out). A lot of our progress will swing on the development of Lalor, Cumming and Hotton through the middle and whether Seth can step up and play the Kane Lambert role. Plus, we need big “Nank the Tank” playing most weeks.

I'd be very disappointed if we didn't win the flag. Judging by pre season form it's impossible to fit all our stars in the 23. I expect us to go back to back in 27 too, giving us 5 flags in 10 years cementing us as the most successful club of the 21st century.

Especially with Sonsie odds on to win the Brownlow

Given we have pretty much a full list, I think we can rise up the ladder, but it is very much dependant on Lynch and Nankervis.

Lynch with a full preseason under his belt is still one of the best if not the best key target in the league going on last time he was fit. Sure a few years ago, but he was moving very well after his suspension. 5 weeks training with no match really freshened him up. Add Faull who will be a lot better this year than last, either Armstrong or Fawcett, Lalor who could be anything this year with no injuries, Hotton, Alger? Campbell, MRJ and a few others and our forward line could be really dynamic.

It's 2026, not 2019 bruzz.

2022 Lynch would have won the Coleman but for missing out on 5 games. Curnow pipped him by 1 goal. Most contested marks by a long way. Wouldn't rate last years efforts. Coming off 2 seasons out he did well just getting up each week, you could see how frustrated he was.

After his 5 weeks training block after suspension he looked a lot fitter and fresher, which he will again after a full preseason. He is only 6 months older than Cameron who won it last year. King next, then Gunston and Naughton. I think as a key target he is better than all of them, although Cameron is better all round because of his mobility.

2022 was 4 years ago.

He has the turning circle of the titanic these days and slow AF. Jezza far more mobile and all 3 of those guys play for good teams. Lynch will still provide good value when he is given some space (rare) and when he doesn't have 3 oppos holding onto him (rarer).

He laboured last year but to be expected but I noted he moved much freer after his suspension. Freshened him up as he didn't have to recover from gameday without the fitness base to do it. Has looked very sharp at training evidently. Sure he will be a bit slower but maybe not slower than last year.

But the point is he is still a good target, but he will have a lot better cattle around him. Contest and or mark or bring the ball to ground where we have the class of Hotton, Campbell, Lalor and co at his feet, Faull and others far more ready than last year.

Last year we started with pretty much only Campbell as a natural crumber, Mansell not a natural. And we had kids coming off moderated preseasons. I think our forward half is going to cause some headaches because it is full of first rounders with class and Campbell who plays like one.
