We had Clark,Sandilands,Pav,Fyfe and Mayne all in the forward half .How much taller do you want it
The problem was lack of crumbers and our smalls to put pressure on the North Backs bringing the ball out when it hit the ground.
Another tall would make the problem worse.
I agree. Look at those speculative goals Thomas and Gibson got for them in the last quarter, we had no one forward that could even attempt a goal like that let alone execute. I think Croz tried one once and it missed everything.

People are forgetting that we went inside 50 more times than them. Have done in all our losses so far. Midfield worked fine we just bombed it in and it came straight back out. Fix the forward issues and we are back on track.

People are forgetting that we need to pray to the MRP gods because if we happen to lose Dawson and Johnson for the Derby, then we are in serious poo poo

Salim you are half right, but Mayne is a liability at the moment, Sandilands/Clarke are not forwards, Fyfe had a good game. At least Balla is
back next week, need to find another crumber, who is more Walters than Deboer.

Top 4 is still a good chance - winning 2 of the next 3 would make me confident. We will come home with a wet sail (pending the cavalry arriving), 5-4 with our start to the year is actually not too bad - not what we hoped for but we can build.

Top 2 impossible, based on last night and the coming weeks and the fact that half the comp have improved significantly (from what we can so far see) I think Top 4 is off the table as well. Can't turn around that sh1t in 1 week.

So it's going to be 6-8th and if have our sh1t together in the finals we may win 1 -2 games, but that's the best we can do this year - too many not doing their share on the field.

There seemed to be a lot of downcast body language in at least 4-5 players, the whole team played like there was a lack of talk when they had the ball. The pressure was good and the clearance stars were good, (Mundy Pearce and Fyfe)
but the disposal was woeful. Players aren't responding as we hoped to the selection pressure. They need to sort the forward line out, and start to work harder for each other to shepherd and lead so they can start to hit clear targets. The back line is still ok but Silvagni might be a good inclusion in either the forward or backline.

At the moment we look like a bottom 8 side. No forwards at all and we just looked tired and disinterested last night tbh. Those saying there was no lack of effort are kidding themselves. At the kick outs we had no one leading. Suban and De Boer are lucky we currently have a lack of depth due to suspensions/injuries. Ballantyne needs to lift, he's played one good game in the last six months. Very lucky we lack small forward options otherwise the suspension may well have cost him more than just the week.

In the end we'll probably scrape into the eight but ATM we just suck. Plain and simply put.

Problem is We have few options to fix our forward line. At the moment we have only one player capable of kicking goals that is playing as a forward --- Pavlich. defensive pressure is great but if you dont kick 20 goals per season you should not be in the forward line
Not true at all. McPharlin, Johnson, Taberner are all capable of kicking goals. But for some reason FFC still prefers to play all our best talls in the backline even though we consistently fail to kick more than 10 goals. It's our coaches' mindset and selection policy that needs to change.

So many people here are of the opinion that Taberner/Apeness are "not ready". Well guess what? They are going to have to be, or we are going to have to poach a tall from the backline. That's all there is to it.

...We have a horrible Forward line. Walters is a massive loss. Mayne looks horrible...
Go on, you might as well say it, Pav is playing like shit too. His stats look good because he's still scoring the odd goal, but he doesn't run, chase or mark like a man who is leading an AFL team. His forward pressure is non existent.

His form this year has been pretty good. He's never been much good as a defensive chaser and tackler. Most tall forwards aren't.

In essence I agree with what you say, but even crumbers wouldn't help in that last quarter as there was "nothing to crumb", Norfs defenders kept marking the damn thing.

I don't think you've been watching very closely. He's being outmarked one on one by rookies.

I agree that Pav has never been very good as a defensive chaser and tackler, although I'm not as quick to dismiss it as standard. There are plenty of tall forwards who still apply defensive pressure, even Pav when he feels like it.

.
He has been close to BOG in almost every game this year. I am not sure what games you've been watching.

Blaming Pavlich for our forward issues is beyond ridiculous. He is our entire forward line at the moment. He's kicked 12 goals already this year.
