Expectations/Things you want to see vs Melbourne this Saturday 22 Feb 2025

I feel this practice game is very important to us, moreso than for Melbourne. What are your expectations and things you want to see?

Im looking forward to seeing if Powell, Phillips and to a lesser extent Goad continue on their preseason form.

im also interested in seeing how our ball movement holds up against an opposition side after seemingly improvement this off season.

Their forward line isn’t much chop so would hope to see our back six function well and move the ball with some purpose. Particularly while the pressure is low.

I want Konstanty, Goad and Whitlock to play, and I want them to play well.

I want to see a responsive coaching unit that pulls tactical levers when the momentum isn’t going our way.

But mostly, I want no injuries.

With another preseason under their belt, I would love to see some absolute stand-out/elite performances of our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year players - even if for a quarter or two to validate where they are at before Clarko has seen enough. I feel their ability to match and surpass their opposition this year is crucial in determining our competitieness and if we improve.

Top 5 I want to impress are: Powell, Phillips, Ford, Harvey, Hardeman.

We know our list has undoubted talent now, so I’d just like to see some maturity and calm decision making start to appear in our footy.
We’ve looked like an u/18s team at times so let’s hope the added experience turns us into a team of grownups.

Beyond that, I'd like to see a young player stamp their round one papers, be that Hardeman, Duursma, Hansen or someone else. Also want the GoDees to play their best defenders and see our forwards get a kick. Larkey was humiliated last time we played them.

No injuries and a system that we see working wholeheartedly a few times. A win or whatever would be great but I don't really care. I just want the lads to get some real football under their belts, with as many of them in their ideal positions, while playing to the gameplan.
