I don't think we can play the same team against better opposition.

This would give Cloke a hell of a lot LESS space as he'd have three defenders on him again...

You might be right. I just don't see what White offers the team. He would not get a game in any of the teams above us on the ladder and when Reid returns I can't see a spot for him.

I'd say as as a forward/ruckman once reid is back witts or grundy goes out.. the only problem for mine with the dual rucks at the moment neither is a particularly good mark so its too hard to play them in the forward line as without marking the ball hits the deck and they are both ruckman like below the knees (particularly witts as he's so tall) -- if he could mark it'd be a different story but so many times last night he got outmarked and then couldnt chase down glass who would easily waltz it out of the WCE backline... At least Whites second efforts are better and he has the speed to chase and tackle

I think you are correct in relation to the present but I like the two rucks in terms of their development for the future.

Nope.

From the very start we should have been going in with only 1 of Grundy or Witts, they should be sharing the season with Grundy playing most, but never in the same side. It is inefficiency when you have a utility such as Jesse White, this is what I said when I created this thread and I have felt this way ever since the Jolly/Leroy days, 2 giants in a team is not modern footy.

White was pretty good in the ruck/around the contest in the last. Ideally you would want Grundy or Witts going one out, with White used as backup.

A forward line of Cloke, Reid, White, Karnezis, Elliot, Goldsack, Blair can be potent, and is more mobile. However in a big final going in with say Grundy/White as the two ruck men doesn't fill me with much confidence

I wonder who the op of this thread is............. must be some kinda smart guy.

Seriously though, how much better were our clearances in the last quarter when Bucks finally put Jesse White in ruck, even times we had Grundy and Jesse White in ruck when it was around the ground, last quarter was great. Can't do that with Witts and Grundy, but Jesse is our Nic Nat.
USE HIM MORE BUCKS!!!!
Took Bucks freaking 10 games to figure out what I have known all along.
White had 2 hitouts for the whole game. We lifted in the last quarter but it was really due more to the midfielders tightening up defensively than the effect White had.

He came on to ruck with 12 mins left of the game, Witts was rested forward along with Swan.

I would say he almost broke even in the ruck contest, couple of times Nic Nat was too big, but his second and even third efforts were far superior to anything Grundy or Witts could do.

fair comment. There is a cost to development. Question is whether we can make the top four and have areal crack whilst we are developing the big guys.
We most likely won't finish top 4 while we have the balance of the list we have. Rucks aside, we are too reliant on our best 3 mids, too young down back without Reid (or with Reid forward), a bit slow overall and we don't kick well enough. A dominant ruckman would help but still not be enough to make us a top 4 side IMO. Maybe when the rucks have another 2 years under them and if the 2 top 10 picks from the last draft become A graders then we are top 4 and real premierships threats because by then a few others will have developed further.

We will win most of our next few games and people will get excited about top but it's a long season and we are pretty young.

This is being realistic. Realism is something this board lacks.

Thank you
