Hey guys, before i start getting serious about following up a Harry Taylor sponsorship just want to get an idea on who would be interested in sponsoring him.

Acorrding to Jimmy it will cost $1500 to get Harry for the year, although we will be able to keep him for as many years as we want.

There will be a range of other stuff that will be drawn out between people who donate towards the sponsorship.

So if you can post if your interested and how much you would give that would be great.

Cheers
rizz

Just to clarify - this is an addition to our continuing sponsorship of Travis Varcoe

Is the Harry sponsorship to run as well as the Travis sponsorship? I'm a little bit confused. I missed out on sponsoring Travis but am more than happy to kick in $15-$20 for whoever is sponsored next season.

Trav one will still run, but it would be good to get two under the big footy banner.

We need to get to $1500 to get the sponsorship

Just out of interest, so please don't bite my head off, but why does HT need sponsorship. Surely the club would have him on some type of wage already and for a young man it would probably be better then most peoples base wage. Just as I'm sure Travis was on a decent wage last year.

In this day and age of modern, professional football I don't see the need for player sponsorship.

I may however be wildly wrong in my assessment of this situation in which case......carry on.

The money doesn't go to him it goes to the club. Its just a way to put your support behind the players and get our names out there. But even if he did both players would as they are moving halfway across the country to represent our club and bring us a premiership. And if those $100 helps them out and makes there move easier and delivers us a premiership its money well spent. Agree?

if 30 members put in $100 each we could sponsor both Travis & Harry

Some people may find $100 a bit of a stretch, but I think $50 will be the minimum amount you can pay per player for 2008 (it was $20 for Travis this year). Also, Sponsoring Harry isn't confirmed yet, we have to wait and see if he is available for us.

I've emailed the lady from the GFC to make sure, if not i'm sure we could get another bloke.

Its up to you, i think we should make Harry a min $50 as well. $100 for both players, or $50 for one.

Obviously if your in this time you have first chance to put money down for harry in 09, so thats a bonus.

I'm not sure I could manage it if $50 were the minimum - sure, it's not a huge difference moneywise, but it can make all the difference if things are a little tight.

Would like to see some definite guidelines regarding this so I can decide whether I want to continue Trav (which I'd like to do).

why would there be a minimum amount?

if there was no minimum, you would get alot more people willing to sponsor 5 or 10 bucks and it would be alot more successful i reckon....

Because donating 5 or 10 isn't gonna get us near the total at all! Besides if you sponser you normally get a year subscription to the Big Footy Supporters thing. So it's good vlaue

the problem is as rizzo said that if we are going to sponsor just one player it is going to cost $1500 and that is a lot of money. What you may not reallise about this year with Travis is that we only got over the line because a few people donated a large amount of money towards it. That gave people who only put in $20 the right to have "Official Travis Sponsor" on their account. Those people aren't complaining about donating but it is a bit rich to expect them to continue to prop it up. It is not too much to ask if you really want to take part to put in a little bit more. If putting $50 towards it is going to stretch you financially then I suggest you have better things to spend your money on. I am not stating this as a mod, this is just my opinion.

If BF agree to giving memberships to all those who contribute then it would be added onto your account so next year you wont need to pay.

sorry for the inconclusive info....as you can see we are still working out the details and once we have something set up we will put up another thread about it. We are even looking at ways to incorporate people who can only donate $20. So stay tuned.

As much as its a good idea i agree with u ling sting, Dawson got money for a new bed and extra money for being there lol and got a grand worth of clothes so i dont think they need to be sponsered i think all on this website for the cats of course should use the money to get a membership.
