There are no iron laws, no axioms, of economics.
Not really interested in arguing over the semantic definition of iron laws. But in a given economic environment with given rules of exchange there are certainly economic laws that tend to take hold even if its possibly to temporarily subvert them. And when governments try to change the rules of exhange in an attempt to break those economic laws permanently they tend to result in disasterous consequences for resource efficiency somewhere in the economic system.

So what? China broke their economic system so severely less than 70 years ago that people had to eat their children to stay alive. The government however survived and now directly meddles in the politics and economic system of the US.
