Work is not going as well these days and being single you gotta pay the bills and I like to go clubbing with mates and one night you can easily blow 200 - 300 bucks on drinks etc.

What ways do you make cash on the side from your main job?

Ebay, thought about it but don't really have the time and don't like the terms that you get charged for putting it up and then charged a percentage of the final sales price aswell.

I might get another job, maybe a private Ticket Inspector or a Cabbie. I resist from borrowing from the parents.

A few gimmicks online saying you can earn a ton for doing so and so but I don't believe it. I'm not interested in writing for websites either.

What do you do to get cash on the side?

Before I was full time at this job, I was working 3 jobs. All caring positions, ended up going on stress leave when a client of mine passed away. I was there the night before she passed. Right now I'm too busy with this job to work extra hours, but I guess if I had better time management skills it could work out.

I'm a Horticulturist, I occasionally get offered cash work by members of the public while I'm working. Similar work to what I normally do, just in someones backyard instead. I charge time and a half in comparison to my regular hourly rate. A bit of extra cash in the pocket always helps.

^^ This!! Totally agree!! Must admit I hate it when people bitch about having no money, yet they smoke like a chimney, drink like a fish or pop pills left right and centre.

yeah, exactly. don't go out clubbing every Saturday night if you want to save some cash, it's not hard to find other sociable things to do that can cost nothing.

What do you do for a job?

Maybe stop going clubbing if you can't afford it?

Exactly. It is about being smart with your money - the basic example is buying a coffee each day at work - $4 a day, 5 days a week $20 a week so over a year that is $1,040 going down the drain. Look at what you are spending money on and see what the alternatives are.

Do you realise that if you were to work as a cabbie, the work hours would be during the time you're normally out clubbing and blowing all your cash? You would earn a bit more money, but isn't the whole reason you want this extra work so you can go out on the town without it eating into your regular income? Seems kinda pointless to me, unless you're planning on saving up for something.

3 of us at work were buying coffees every day, so we all chipped in and bought an espresso machine for the lunch room. Paid itself off in a matter of months. :thumbsu:

mate, if you're spending up to $300 bucks on ONE NIGHT, you don't deserve any more money. i know drinks aren't cheap but what are you drinking, top shelf all night?
i like a good night out as well but have you heard of pre-drinks?
my advice, drink beer instead of spirits when out, half the price.

failing that, come and see me about a loan at 9%:D

wow i drink quite a bit with mates and often go the cocktails route, yet i rarely spend more than 100-150 a night. sounds like you should stop buying rounds of drinks for your mates or find a cheaper place to drink or pre drink.

that or just put on a ****ty outfit, crank the thigh high boots and fishnets and walk the streets late at night

Sales Rep, yeah maybe but I'm not a stay at home guy on Friday or Saturday nights or even Sunday

True, but clubbing is a thing I look forward to whilst I'm enduring at work.

Wise comment.

I'll be trying to do that in the future, going to cut down on clubbing and try and save money to buy my membership :thumbsu:

True, but a few of my mates do it at night instead of going clubbing with the rest of the fellas and they get a decent amount.

Planning to save up for footy membership and trip to GC or Singapore with the girlfriend and hoping to save up for a house too.

Will be definately cutting back on clubbing .

I'm the type of guy who buy drinks for chicks and mates as I usually get good commission.

Mainly spirits. Yeah, when I do go clubbing will be doing pre-drinks for sure, to save a bit.

You work at MyBudget? :D

Thanks for all the advice GD'ers :thumbsu:

Oh, if you work at a bank, please sort out a loan for me!!

I refereed soccer for many years. At a low level the pay is pretty crap but once you get a couple of years' experience under your belt and you get into upper level all-age you're getting $50-$70 a match, cash in hand. Used to referee both days a weekend and make $230-$300.
