Extremely Impressed

And how are we going to assimilate him into mainstream society without a senior Burmese player on our list?

Thanks for the comments. Most Swans fans are extremely happy with our trading and drafting this year as we have gone from one of the oldest sides in the competition to a much younger one and it may be premature to say but i think we will be a better team in 2010 than we were in 2009.

As for Jetta's home sickness Goodes and O'Loughlin have been iching for the Swans to draft some young aboriginals. Including Jetta we have drafted 3 this year (which is amazing considering we haven't drafted any aboriginals in nearly 10 years) so i would imagine Goodes and O'Loughlin will try and make him feel at home and having 2 other young aboriginals with him will only help matters.

MOL DID retire you know. ;)

From what I understand he is still living in Sydney and very much involved at the Swans. I wouldnt have any doubt he (and Goodes) will be used by, and will want to be used by the Swans to help settle young indiginous players, and provide personal guidance. :thumbsu:

Yes but generally Aboriginal players are a bit different as they are very family orientated. O'Loughlin came within a whisker of flying back to Adelaide in the mid 90's because he hated being away from home so much.

yeah and Rangas are all homeless orphans and are used to having no one...

I think the swans has/will smash the off season.
National Draft - We need Speed. Tick
Pre-Season - We want Bradshaw. Tick
Rookie Draft - A tall and Dylan McNeil. Soon to be Tick

Not Perth, Bunbury. And stop being such a dick, if you cant understand the difference in these two boys adjusting to Sydney life, it just shows how ignorant you are. :thumbsd:

"nawww, man, you juz ignant". I'd rather be just ignorant than ignorant and condescending. Of course it's going to be hard for both but Cobden's a lot ****ing smaller than Bunbury (or Perth, where Jetta's been living for a year and a bit), so you'll have to pardon me for not really agreeing with the "Jetta will need extra help because he's black" outlook on the situation.

While to assume that Jetta will definitely need help settling in is somewhat presumptuous, Indigenous Australian culture is very much more collectivist than the individualist Western culture found in "white" Australia. I have no idea about the circumstances in which Jetta was raised, but generally speaking, there is a good chance that any particular indigenous Australian will be affected to some degree by this cultural influence.

In other words, Aboriginals tend to be more family oriented as a result of their Aboriginal cultural heritage, however diluted it may have become for some families (that's not a moral judgement, just an observation). While not every single Aboriginal kid will be affected by this, it is likely they will, so having somebody who has been through similar circumstances from a similar perspective would likely be very beneficial.

Who knows? Jetta might be absolutely fine. But that would be somewhat surprising. To acknowledge that it would be surprising is neither racist nor ignorant, merely realistic.
