But what exactly DOES it mean to play for st kilda? I honestly struggle to see what it is that the players and coaches stand for. What makes us: us?

They're trotting out all the right lines but they're saying absolutely nothing.

The saddest part is that i just don't trust them.
This is what it means to play for St.Kilda;

They should take a leaf out of his book. Don't have to aspire to be as good as him but effort is something anyone can do and if they come with the same effort that he did we would be half the way there.

I bought into all the talk coming out publicly from club for a while. I believed in the rebuild and was patient. But I can't do that anymore. We as supporters can't accept that kind garbage anymore.

Friday was against North who i thought have worse list in the league
This is why that horrific loss ripped me even more.....I read a good measured article by one of the team on "the Roar" last Thursday.

He went thru the Roo's list player by player.....IHO.....their list had a fair chunk who he believed weren't up to AFL standards......from memory,he believed 5..maybe 6 were good to very good.

I thought.. "given this,surely we can't lose"......well yes...we were belted.

brave post mate. i reckon a number of posters think the same

if i said that i'd be flamed into oblivion then shot into the sun
Tissue?

Massive difference knackers...

People like George are the heart and soul of this club.

For every negative post, there's 99 constructive ones.

You on the other hand sit over there in Perth and lob grenades. Be honest and admit that you are revelling in the turmoil.

George Do you know if the move back to Moorabbin week before round 1 has created instability in the club, as everyone including players/coaches are getting use to the new facility's?
Possibly even taking away from some of the focus of playing the early rounds of the home and away season?

Record in marquee games.
Posted Terry Smith on SS

Since and including 2012 we have played in 15 Friday night games and lost 13 of them by an average of nearly 40 points (including 2 of 76 and 84 points )

3 ANZAC games and 3 losses

Now Good Friday

This does not include all those recent line in the sand games that have gone south.

There is an obvious issue when the footy world’s eyes are on us. It would appear to be beyond coaches and captains to lead us out of this problem. I would think it is a collective psychological thing.

SOME VERY INTERESTING & POIGNANT OBSERVATIONS.

Recorded 360 and the couch the see what Richo had to say and also the guys on the panel. Firstly on Richo i honestly feel like though he is lost in what he thinks went well and a way to fix it. Just looks totally confused. On the couch showed the comments from Geaey who said we were good the week before. I'm glad that Roos and Browny said and are actually spot on that we were poor against the Lions. Will be interesting how this week pans out with selections and the response.

Of all the people at the St Kilda FC, Alan Richardson is the most responsible for delivering on the 5 year plan. He has to take responsibility for the end result. I won't accept him blaming the players.

I was saying to myself for North to keep kicking our arses, the games already done, now just belt us into oblivion. I reckon if we kept treading water it would just end up even worse. We need a good "flashpoint" moment that smacks them all in the face and gets them up and out of this monotonous cycle.

Happened with Melbourne when they traveled to Geelong and lost by 186 points. Sacked the coach and began again.

Ours wasn't of the same margin obviously but definitely think it was thereabouts in terms of media scrutiny and magnitude within the club.
North were just too shit to put us away early. We should have lost by 200 points the way we played. You could see that North were going to get over the top eventually. It was like death by a thousand cuts then they just went for an artery in the final quarter.

We were right under the spot light the moment we said it's finals time .

We don't need to be embarrassed to a certain opposition .we just need to keep losing.
It’s actually a worry when you see that list. I reckon most fans expect loses to the top 8 teams but when the Hawks have jumped us and if we drop the Pies or Blues games, then the war drums start beating to the point that he has to go.

It's actually done the polar opposite. Whole club was so rapt to be back at Moorabbin, when I went down there a couple weeks ago you could sense a shift. Which makes the result on Friday even more baffling. Players had everything at Moorabbin set up for them. They literally had to walk in the door and put their personal belongings in their lockers.

It's definitely no excuse for the shocking performance. Again I reiterate that these are professional footballers. If you get distracted moving lockers maybe the games not for you.

We are stuck with the freckled campaigner aren’t we? FMD

It was ARR that recently highlighted the fact that we have consistently dropped our bundle in crunch games. Melbourne twice last season, Essendon last season & against North the season prior. If Richo can’t get us up for big games then he needs to question whether he’s the right man for the job imo.
I’d chuck Nick 300th into that list too (whilst being earlier on). We were totally flat against the doggies in a hugely important game for the club.

That's rubbish.

Motivation comes from within. Richo will hold himself to account. He doesn't tell players to go out and play like shit.

The blame lays with both players and coach.

Try going to work and slacking off because you hate your boss and see where it gets you.

If their piss poor effort was because they no longer play for him, then he has to go.

Until such time that is proven to be the case, the players are just as if not more culpable as the coach.

That's wrong.
Richardson is paid to motivate the team and play at their best - that's his job as coach.

I'm never wrong!

It's a bit of both.

But if he cannot do that then he's lost them... Which I don't think he has.
I don't know if you've ever coached. I have. As a coach you are the difference between success and failure. I have never blamed my players. I have always questioned my attitude and planning when faced with a loss. I am better than my players, and the buck stops with me.

I've got a bad feeling we'll have to let Richo go this season. I don't reckon he can survive, I can't see us doing a Richmond with our biggest game breaker being Jack Steven. There's too much bad feeling out there for him now, I think him and his assistants have run their race at our club. Sad but it happens.

So the question probably should become, if not him then who?

My money would be on Ratten as he has actually done the job before.

No to Roos or Mick, no to Hird. Knights? Ayres? Not sure. Caracella? Camporeale? Too green.

Everyone's dream Clarkson seems a long shot. Chris Scott ditto. Brad Scott? Bevo?

Robert Harvey would probably want the gig but I'd not be keen. Justin Plapp? Lenny Hayes?

Whose gun coaching (not magic) would turn our group of players into a skilled finals outfit?
