Hopefully, most people only paid a small deposit when they put their order in at the store.

People should contact their credit provider about reversing the charges, but then again those banks are probably creditors as well.

Doesn't work like that.

You were only charged when the order was shipped.

First order you place they get you to manually confirm a small charge on your card (ie $5) then proceed with the order once confirmation received.

Speaking of CC's. When I ordered from JB last week my CC was debited immediately, which I thought was weird because the DVD's weren't yet available. Then a few days later the money was credited back.

I checked the order, still only one disc ready to ship. The other two on back order.

I think the post you're quoting is talking about DVDs ordered through the store. My brother ordered a DVD last week at an EzyDVD store, he was lucky because it arrived on Monday but the person behind the counter told me that anything that had been ordered from their supplier but not yet shipped, the buyer has done their money (well, they become a creditor but it's much of a muchness)

Be a shame if the business is not bought by someone with half a clue.

Piss off all the retail stores, get their price and cost structure right, and exploit the great online service they provide.

Very true.Let's just look at the price difference of a recent release DVD like Tropic Thunder

Big W - $25 [I got it on special for $20 their the other day]
Sanity - $30
EzyDVD - $40

It's funny how stores like BigW, Coles etc.. can sell certain goods at wholesale or just below wholesale price. An example is my cousin is a supply officer for a pretty big company & he told me that it's cheaper for him to buy coca cola/fanta etc. at Coles/Woolies than buying them direct through Coca cola. Because supermarkets can afford to sell certain goods at these prices & then make up their profits from selling other goods like fruit (which they mark up by at least 50%+ above the whole sale cost).

Same thing applies with big w as a friend of mine used to work for atlantic video & she told me that most of the new release dvds wholesale price is no more than $5 off the RRP it sometimes is even less. So the dvd shops make their money through hiring movies. Stores like bigw, kmart can sell them at wholesale cost & make up profits from other goods & i'm pretty sure that's how jb hi-fi operates as well.

Now where am I going to get the 18 movie Clint Eastwood boxset?

I think that's an ezydvd exclusive... but im not 100% sure. Speaking of Clint Eastwood & i recently watched Gran Torino which i think is one of the better films released in 2008.

I agree with all the comments. I remember when I lived in Darwin and they opened the first store of it's kind in Casuarina Square. I bought a lot of DVD's from them but found the franchisees real assholes and rude to customers. Then JB HI FI opened and their EZY DVD shop went from being packed all the time to be being empty every time I walked past it. I started to buy at JB HI FI as well as they were better priced. Just goes to show that you should be nice to your customers.

But I have never had trouble with the online site and I hope it continues now the company has been sold.
