F*** The Poor

I wouldn't give money to some random dude with a sign either.

I get the point they're making but it doesn't make a whole heap of sense.
I am sick to the teeth of being asked for money by every tinpot organisation in WA (not necessarily collecting for the poor) asking me for money everytime I go to IGA to some bread and milk. Far as I'm concerned they are no better than beggars and can **** off

You should try being poor and getting harassed by rich companies, not just harassed but exploited, manipulated and down right stolen from. It really is disgusting every time you come across a trick to get your money. You should try being poor and watching all the rich getting handouts for solar power, they don't need it, you ****** do, and they get paid to put it on their roof to lower their bills.

You do get a Green Energy Allowance in your Newstart payment nowdays, you know.

Let's be frank, would you give money to a random guy wearing a sign just saying "Help the Poor" without showing any signs he's from a proper charity? I wouldn't have given him any money on the basis I would have thought he was a con artist.

Have you seen how much of your dollar make it to the poor when you give to charity like the salvoes or uniting care? have you seen the lifestyles lead by workers of these organizations?

It's about the services provided, and not necessarily about the direct financial advantage they can offer the homeless.

What services are provided? i can't see any? I can only cooperation with maintaining the status quo..
Many, many services are provided by charities to the poor.

But don't worry comrade, you just keep raging against the system while not actually doing ****-all yourself to help anybody.

You want an example? Well I am directly involved in a drop in centre which provides a free breakfast every morning for the homeless or those at risk of homelessness. In the evenings, it is open for families to present and they receive a free dinner, shower and washing facilities, counselling and accommodation support. That is the most basic level of the service.

You are ignorant if you think there is nothing provided. This extends to other departments which actually house and case manage individuals and/or families for a period of time, helping them to maintain family structure, get the children in school and, ultimately find a job. By the time they leave the program, a private rental is a realistic and affordable option.

But please, do go on about your theory that the money goes nowhere and how employees are living extravagant lifestyles. I know I am not.

Alot of fancy words, looks good on reports to mangers in the CBD on thier 100 grand plus a year salary..

That in now way endeavors to show what these charities are providing that changes the Status Quo..

Of course it looks good on reports, because the programs are genuinely helping people in a sustainable way. Would you rather we just give them cash and say "Here ya go mate, good luck?". That's not sustainable in the slightest. 95% of clientele then go and spend that money on drugs and alcohol. Tell me - what would you do?

People are too busy to care. And I'll admit you see some people on the street and just judging them on appearance only you don't want to give them money.

An old lady bailed me up in the US on the street and I gave her about 5 bucks, yet when I saw some guys come into Subway looking stoned as hell asking for money I did everything to avoid them.

Most people think most homeless are drug addicts, sadly.

Thats why the gap between rich and poor is enlarging, thats why Gaols are full, child protection agencies struggling ect ect. Tell me do charities still offer free marketing for department store chains who sell goods mostly made in china?

I see you accidentally cut out the question put to you, let me help you out there.
Tell me - what would you do?
I'm dying to hear your response.

'Poor' people in 1st world countries are ******* scum.
I'm sorry, but the only scum in this country seems to be you.

Person X is happily married with two kids. Whilst not being in high paying jobs, they are making ends meet and are just managing to pay the rent. One random Saturday, Person X's wife is involved in a car accident and suddenly dies.

There's the situation. Now think about what can happen - obviously the household income is halved. Is the rent now affordable? No. Person X now starts missing some payments. He's not working because he's grieving for his dead wife. The kids are all over the place and start acting out, getting into fights at school, drugs, alcohol, you name it. Fast forward a few months and Person X now loses his job because he cannot bring himself to work because his life is in such turmoil. His rent is now seriously in arrears and he is evicted. He's got no job, no money, two kids to support and nowhere to go. This family is now homeless, sleeping in their car.

You're right - he must be scum.

A couple of weeks after their arrival, Moore once again set up his Salvation Army Red Shield sign at Uberi, at the base of one of the most gruelling sections of the Kokoda Track. Having convinced the Army to allow him to use Papuan carriers to get his equipment and stores up the Track, he and ‘Jock’ Inglis had been able to set up their new hut by nightfall on 6 September 1942. They set up near a creek so they could draw water for their tea and coffee and had stretched a tent fly across a pole to make their new Salvation Army jungle hut. There they handed out hot tea and coffee, cake, scones and biscuits to the men – some on their way to meet the enemy, others making their way back down the track, many of them wounded or sick.

This bits been edited. They use to handout cigarettes as well.

However the important bit, (which nothings changed) this charity used slave labour to do "gods" work. These charities still do, while executives live the life on their big wages and entitlements.
