Haven't heard the quote in context, but apparently it was said in jest on a comedic podcast.

Seems to have a bit of character though which is good. Last thing we need is another George Russell.
Blando and George are quintessential rich Brits. No personality

Unfortunately Lando appears to be developing a bit of a personality as a spoilt and entitled git.

George has a bit of that in him as well, but he's still very robotic.
Lando acts like a 12 year old most of the time.

In my opinion, the best way to increase overtaking is to simply make the cars smaller.
Yep. And we're not talking about going back to the 60s either. Just a reset to when the racing and overtaking was at its peak..2010 might be the place to start as the absolute limit but a few years earlier would be awesome.

Surely one of the major pushbacks will be on the major safety features that contribute to the increases in size.

Cars will be 20cm shorter and 10cm narrower in 2026 which is a start

Here's the video of the 2 cars (RB1 and RB20) having a track run together at Silverstone in the wet from earlier this year for those who haven't seen:

The sound of the V10 in the RB1 is something I really miss though.

I know, I know, as the line from the song says - 'those days are gone forever, I should just let em go....but'

Its the braking distances and inability to follow closely that is restricting overtaking, not just the size of the cars.

The modern day safety features plus the hybrid units will mean we never go back to the 2010 days

Let me see if I've got this right, as far as engine suppliers in 2026:
Red Bull - RB/Ford
Mercedes - Mercedes
Ferrari - Ferrari
Aston Martin - Honda
Williams - Mercedes
Alpine - Mercedes
McLaren - Mercedes
Haas - Ferrari
Audi - Ferrari
VCARB - RB/Ford

That's:
Mercedes - 4
Ferrari - 3
RB/Ford - 2
Honda - 1

Audi are doing their own PU.

Knowing that project though anything is possible.

I heard the mayor of LV on the radio last week and he wants to get rid of the GP, he said he didn't realise how long it was going to shut the strip down for.
How long is the current contract for ?

You would have to think that the F1 popularity bubble (particularly in the US) will burst at some point, and then we may hopefully just be left with the Austin GP.

The initial deal for LV was only 3 years (ending 2025), with plans to extend it to 10 years (ending 2032).
