I thought that was pretty optimistic, some would say they're already out of sight.

you can take a myopic view. i got a rush from the way mclaren turned around their fortunes last year and went from being uncompetitive to very competitive with the new engine. looking forward to seeing what happens this year with major upgrades.

God I wish VB was in a better car. What a guy haha
He's been in a merc, and wasn't like this. In fact, when he was with Merc, he'd cross as far away from fans as possible and literally run down the Melbourne Walk, avoiding every single fan. Crazy how he's been adopted as an honorary aussie now and he decides to play up to the crowd a bit more..

You wonder whether Valtteri is happier in his current drive vs his previous.

In his previous drive the main upside was getting the race win scraps that Lewis left (which is a big upside admittingly). However he was never in the championship fight, and dealt with a lot of criticism because of that.

Compared to now where he's still getting paid millions, and there isn't any real expectation on him in any given week (except beat Zhou, which he can do comfortably most weekends). He'll go into most weekends knowing he's going to be outside the points and everyone is okay with that. Gotta be a little more freeing I'd say.

I'd avoid the bunch of losers constantly shitcanning him for not preventing Hamilton from getting a title as well.

His “conversion” is also coincidental to the hooking up with an Aussie woman.
I think she may have shown him another side of life than that he was expected to lead in Europe.

Finns also have fantastic humour themselves. Just needs to be unlocked sometimes.
And an Aussie-Finn hybrid?
Aussie Valtteri shows how good that can be.

Damon Hill was in Adelaide a few days back and visited a few sites on the old F1 track, including the Ayrton Senna hand prints in the footpath and the spot where he collided with Schumacher

IIRC Damon had a slightly different and more realistic version of this collision than is printed here - admitting he was too trusting of Schumacher turning into that corner.
