Apparently Vettel has confirmed he has had talks with Toto about the vacant Merc seat. There are rumours some at Red Bull want Alonso. How great would it be if Merc sorted their s**t out and you have Max, Hamilton, Vettel, and Alonso all fighting at the front.
hmm! i'd be chasing the younger drivers. norris and gasly for instance.

Looking forward to this one. Good time zones and no work. There's the smell of optimism or hopefulness in the air after seeing that Max is human Afterall. Oscar podium perhaps?

Discard that smell of optimism. Suzuka is a very good track for the Red Bull.

Was more hopeful as both McLaren's podiumed last year. But yeah max will win. Hopefully 1 red bull shits the bed for some variety

Not sure Max showed any signs of weakness in Melbourne. His problems were 100% car related (brakes), and it was a freakishly unusual problem which is unlikely to be repeated.

Sergeant very lucky not to total that car. Made a mess though. Why's Iwasa in the car instead of DR? Just the mandatory drive the reserves have or?
Mandatory + PR. All-Japanese line up at the Japanese grand prix.

It's abundantly clear Sargeant is not up to standard. Had an opportunity to prove Williams were wrong to give his car to Albon and he spuds it up again. Time to go

Yeah, only hacks crash their Williams in practice.

ADR hammered this weekend

Rookie in FP1 in his car and wet FP2 so no chance for him to shake down car.

Gonna make it a long weekend for him with little to no on track set up data

Not really ideal given his current disposition sadly.

A one hour session should be enough for someone of his experience

not when hes not had a great feel for the car and needs the shake down time IMO

I think the interesting part is that some drivers have said it is a penalty and some have said it isn't. I think when even the drivers are split the penalty is a bit harsh.

Imo, if Alonso was *ing around like he does, then he has to accept responsibility. If he can get away with it, then fine. However if the deceleration is too much and at an unexpected point, then it's a red card. Off to the change rooms.
Agree with you on that one. Unfortunately it's not the 90's anymore and if you come off your usual line and make contact the blame is usually going to end up with you. If Alonso didn't brake twice he probably would have gotten away with it but now that the stewards see all the telemetry he's ****ed.

Lots of talk about updates that teams were bringing to Japan

Red Bull bringing some tweaks to the floor and new sidepod inlets at the front next to the driver which seem to replace some ducts on the side

Ferrari bringing some changes to the aerodynamic coverings on the rear suspension (aside from a different wing for Suzuka)

Aston Martin with what seems to be a whole new floor and a new diffuser, interesting to see what they get out of it

McLaren and Mercedes not changing anything of note.

Had the displeasure of driving round Monaco today and the track is getting set up. Grandstand at the pool is already in place and fencing half done.

Also got my work car towed for double parking.

The fact Red Bull have won back to back constructor titles (and you'd be backing a third) why would they even entertain the thought of replacing Checo? Being very much second to Max, he's just about the perfect driver for that team. Plus what he did 2021 for that team in Abu Dhabi 2021, Red Bull should be indebted to him for life.

Another poor showing by Ricciardo. Spun, soundly beaten by Tsunoda, very disappointing. Shown nothing all year, so he's def driving for his career here, and needs to put in a strong lap qualifying.
