James Vowles has been very clear from the get-go that he has come to Williams to do things "the right way" and its evidence by the fact he had to rebuild the whole team from the ground up as the management of Williams the last few years before he joined was an absolute shitshow. So much though that Williams were still using Microsoft Excel to help build and track parts of the car...Not having enough spare parts for a race on the other side of the world (with the next two races in similar time zones) seems like a massive oversight, even for a lower ranked team.
The shocking details behind an F1 team's painful revolution
One 2024 Formula 1 car had its roots in Mircosoft Excel, such is the outdated way of working a new leadership has set about demolishing

The process Vowles started with resetting the team from scratch has put them far behind their original schedule (but will pay off in the long run), so while it does seem like oversight to not have a spare here in Australia, the reason they don't have a spare chassis is because it doesn't actually exist yet.
