Would be interesting they made Motorsport an olympic event.
All drivers and crew need to be from the country of choice.

Could either make it a Kart/Formula type race, or a 12/24hr endurance race.
The Olympics are already an endurance. For the viewer!
Why would we need more?

iirc, an early 'winner' of the men's marathon was disqualified for getting a lift in a car for a large slab of the race.

The USA is the reigning rugby Olympic champions and they used to have the tug-of-war, just like the old World of Sport days.
The USA are not the reigning rugby Olympic Champions. They won in 1924 and were the reigning champions for 92 years - but they haven't been champions since Rugby was reintroduced to the Olympics (as Rugby Sevens) at the Rio Games in 2016.

In 2016 it was Fiji (mens) and Australia (womens) who emerged victorious. However, (for the next few days at least) the reigning Olympic champions are the winners from the Tokyo (2021) games - Fiji (mens) and NZ (womens).

... and it's not only the early Olympics where shenanigans takes place. One of the early Tour de France winners was disqualified for catching a train!

You mean like A1GP? Hulk likes this

The Perez decision is one of the most baffling things i have seen in a while

I don't give a shit who takes that seat as long as he gets the boot at the end of the year

Give it Lawson probably a mistake but who knows
Give it to Yuki could be good or bad
Give it to Ric same as Yuki
Hell just race one car next year

Anything except seeing Perez waste a seat in a top team again

For all he provides in pushing youth through the junior team, he really is a detriment to every other aspect of them.

Hes alright with the work he does with young driver programs but when it comes to PR hes an absolute moron. He simply needs to shut up and not talk to the media. But hes so senior that the other execs are probably too afraid to gag him.

perez won't be with r.b in 2025. yuki is driving well but is a loose cannon with the media. danni ric is cooked.

if max stays lawson would me my pick.

They won't promote Lawson straight to the main Red Bull seat. It'll be Perez or Ricciardo. Potentially both if Max leaves. I expect Lawson to be racing for VCARB next year regardless of what happens with Red Bull.

You can't really equate 7s to full rugby, they're a lot different, that's why they have specialist players in 7s.

It's like T20 to cricket. Variations on the same sport.

Fiji & NZ are the reigning Olympic Rugby champions... until new winners are crowned at the current games.

The USA thing was a fun fact while it lasted, and it lasted from 1924 - 2016, but it's no longer a fact.

On the SkySports F1 Podcast (no idea why I listen to this still), Craig Slater still didn't seem convinced that Perez would see out 2024.

Reckons that Red Bull may reverse their decision if he comes back from the summer break poorly. They did something similar with Gasly from memory (said he wasn't going anywhere, then he was a gone a couple of races later).

it would take verstappen and horner to go into bat for danny ric for him to have any chance. frankly, his form over many years doesn’t warrant it. and they need someone sufficiently young to understudy verstappen.

No, they need a competent driver that isn't going to get in his way but keep racking up points to fill that second seat. Once Verstappen goes, normal service resumes.

yes, but as i've said it's been a long time since danny was that. he's cooked and his age isn't in his favour. time will tell.

Ricciardo has been solid without being spectacular this season. He would do fine in a Red Bull.

The Red Bull suits Daniel. It is a car he knows. A car he likes. There is a reason why his testing time this time last year was so good. People can say he is cooked or he won't do better than Checo but until he gets the chance we won't ever know.
