A quick check of F1 stats tells me that only 39 of the 777 F1 drivers in history have 8 or more race wins which puts Danny Ric in the top 5% of all drivers.

That's pretty rarified atmosphere and certainly worthy of more than the afterthought farewell he was given by Red Bull (accepting that Dan's dogged determination to hang on to any chance of a seat was a key part of that).
Crazy to think Oscar is already 25% of the way to Ricciardo's win tally after less than two full seasons.

Colapinto and Bearman jumping straight in recently and delivering impressive drives only increases the pressure on Lawson to hit the ground running. Hope the fans don’t take it out on him as he’s not done anything wrong. Tipping the media will be quick to put the pressure on.

Can’t imagine there is any truth to any of these Perez rumours. No chance they let this whole thing with Danny Ric drag out and get so ugly only for another of their drivers to be leaving straight after with no replacements available. Perez will be there next year.

wow! now that is surprising.

Not really, if you know anything about averages and how misleading they can be, especially in motor sport.

Both Perez and Tsunoda having 2 DNFs in two of those 10 races for example (and DR having no DNFs in those 10 races) which skews the average for each driver markedly.

Ric losing his seat was probably the right move but how the **** does Perez keep his???? Man he must be bringing in what 50mil+ in cash?

Ric still had moments of brilliance but was to inconsistent so i can see why they moved him on.

Ok I'll do it, just for interest sake... so last 10 starting from Canadian GP - not including DNF's (in brackets)
Perez 8.75 (2)
Ric 12.3.(0)
Tsunoda. 13.9 (2)

My point wasn't really about the numbers. It was that using finish place averages is a meaningless stat in a competitive motor racing context where quali and other factors over a race weekend come in to play, damage from collisions, team strategy, different tyre strategies, different upgrades etc.

Especially if you then go and pick a non-random set of races to do that simplistic and non-relevant arithmetic calculation.

I mean why was 'the last 10 races' picked? Why not the full season stats including qualifying grid position and points gained over the full season? Pretty obvious it was done to get numbers to sell a narrative.

Anyhow, we all know why Danny was retired and why Perez and Tsunoda keep their second tier seats with RBR. And race outcomes is just a very small part of that story.

renault pulling the plug

“Alpine is, therefore, in need of an engine supplier for the 2026 season. The team is believed to be in discussions with Mercedes to obtain power units as a customer.”
Give it another 18 months and my bet is they won't be called Alpine either
