Which begs the question... Does serving a 10 place grid penalty in a sprint race have the same punitive effect as serving it in a full Sunday GP?

Nope all penalties should apply to the GP not the sprint and that is usually the case so not sure why it is different here

The idea is that hotel revenue etc which isn't counted is part of the overall revenue of the event because it's paid for by the State Government. Total net benefit is hard to see.

I was successful in the ballot, but decided not to use it after I finally got through the queue to discover that prices had been jacked up an extra 25% with their "dynamic pricing model"... will login again tomorrow during general sale. FFS Ticketmaster!!
I get that it's a popular event, but these jacked up prices during presales is just stuffed. Preying on people who are desperate to go to events/concerts knowing that they'll be scared of missing out.
