Alpine special livery for this week. Not sure if Alpine or McLaren.

Why on earth would you blatantly copy an existing competitors car? Assume it has something to do with the Texas colours but still.

Would be like Mercedes coming our with a special red livery that looked just like the Ferrari's.

Max has to change his power unit in the next six races should be interesting so where he takes his penalty

They're getting rid of the fastest point for next season.

I liked it in theory but I see the problem. 4th place who is 30 seconds behind and in front of the cars around them gets the free pit stop late and gets the easy point.

All this because Lando and McLaren had a whinge after Ricciardo took the fastest lap point away from them in Singapore.

I guess we can now state that RIC had such a big impact on F1 that they changed the rules because of him.

In answer to my own question...

Max had the fastest lap in Bahrain and Japan. Lando claimed it in Spain, Netherlands, Italy, and Azerbaijan.

So, without the fastest lap points, Max's lead would increase by 2 points.

McLaren should be careful what they wish for. They may have just scored an own goal.

Is it all because of that? Did McLaren actually complain?

Like I said previously, I like it in theory but the racing isn't close enough to have it work the way it should.

It may not be just because of Singapore, but why let facts ruin a good story?

We definitely know that McLaren were unhappy with what happened in Singapore, and what the UK teams want they usually get.

Sounding very conspiracy theorist there ;)

The fastest lap point is also a distraction.

I remember it cost Verstappen a win in one of the double British GP they had on the "pandemic" years.

Mercs are miles ahead. Verstappen in the middle of nowhere bored. They go for FL, then the Mercs tyers blews. He was so far behind Hamilton was able to scramble to win. BUt had Verstappen not pitted, he'd have won easy.

It was redbull caught with the illegal part because of course it was

When it first came out, I thought it was surely McLaren.

Interesting though, it appears to have been a loophole that allowed them to make more changes than you typically would be able to under parc ferme between Quali and Race.

So more pressure on Red Bull now to get their setups right for Qualifying, which they haven't had much luck at lately.

Max playing mind games, I love it

Verstappen: Piastri "too good" to support Norris at McLaren

"For me, he's definitely not a [number two driver] and if I was him I would never accept it," Verstappen said.

"For me, it's easy to talk, of course, because I've been in Formula 1 for 10 years and it's Oscar's second season, so it is always harder to put your foot down.

"But he's just a great F1 driver who doesn't deserve it to give up wins and positions and play second fiddle because he's asked to."

The part itself is totally legal, its if they use the part to alter the car during Parc Ferme, that action is what is illegal. And according to the FIA there is no proof that this has actually occurred.

Also according to Red Bull its physically impossible to use the part while the car is built (i.e Parc Ferme) but need to take what they say with a grain of salt.

Little bit more info here:

Can be adjusted from the pedal box, pedals can be adjusted in parc ferme

Is the impression in the paddock of Marko one of him still being mentally sharp? He basically seems to be a rent-a-quote for clickbaity F1 sites to a level that overplays his importance to RBR. Or is that unfair?

No. As I said earlier in the year if I was red bulls PR manager (and they should have a decent one) I would gag Helmut and he would never be allowed to talk to the media or I would sack him. He's a rent a quote for creating problems.
