Alpine apparently after Colapinto to replace Doohan.

Imagine that, sacked before you even started.
They really must struggle with the concept of contracts in that team

Martin brundle thinks they should get rid of blue flags. I can see an argument for it.
What are people's thoughts?

Nope. I don't want the leaders getting held up by backmarkers fighting over 15th place. They shouldn't have to fight their way through the ridiculously slow cars.

Just imagine the UK media backlash if one of the Poms is leading and crashes out of the race fighting to lap last place

Ok i was against getting rid of blue flags due to compromising the race and safety but **** it i need to see a pom (Lando) getting ****ed by a driver whilst Max drives around them and waves seeya.

I can absolutely see an argument, but Msrtin forgets that these cars are stupidly hard to see out of.

I reckon you need to start giving penalties earlier though

Whilst overtaking still requires a speed discrepency >1s/lap blue flags are essential. You only have to think about the Ocon/Verstappen incident at Interlagos a few years ago. Ocon was roundly criticized, not for doing anything wrong on track in the overtake - but by having the gumption to attempt in the first place - after all he was a lap down!

The expectation has been set that back-markers will simply "get out of the way" - often sacrificing their own races/battles to avoid impeding the leaders. Remioving blue flags now and they will still be criticized, but without any threat of marshall or steward penalty and the drivers will have much greater variance in their on-track responses. (And OP seems to struggle more than LN to overtake as it is!).

We will never see refuelling reintroduced, but they need to find a way to increase the pace offset between cars. There are lots of methods they could try (increased variance in tyre grip/speed and degradation (1-3-5 rather than 1-2-3 an obvious fix for example), improved assisted overtakes - better DRS, push-to-pass battery power, etc) then this would help. But the biggest issue now IMO is the (lack of) braking distance. They are so powerful now there simply isn't room for clean overtaking in the braking zone.

Back markers are still entitled to race their race but when you have a risk of a back marker holding up one driver over another, a mechanism is required to mitigate this risk.

I agree regarding re-fuelling. I don't mind the increased variance in tyre as long as they achieve every race being a minimum of two stops. If they could find a way to replicate the effect of wet weather without jeopardising safety that could be interesting.

He goes to Rb before alpine. Perez sponsors have said they will sponsor him even if perez is sacked

Perez won't get sacked and he's too selfish to retire.

He's a race driver FFS, thats all they wanna do. Do you reckon Dan wouldve retired if he wasnt forced out, or Bottas ??

They forced Dan out..
They won't force perez out $$$

If the talk that Checo's sponsors will jump to Colapinto then Red Bull could very well drop Checo and bring in Colapinto.

It would be a great move for Red Bull but a slap in the face for Tsunoda. They'd almost be better off giving Yuki a run in the top team for a couple of years and run Colapinto alongside Lawson at RB.

In my opinion, the best way to increase overtaking is to simply make the cars smaller.
Brundle said that in the AMA when conceding that currently there is a need for blue flags, and that the cars do need to be smaller and lighter

I really doubt checos sponsors would do that but in any case I suspect Williams would only release colapinto to a lower team (such as if he had gone to audi) but won't release him to red bull. So it's probably a moot point. And sadly I doubt they sack checo.

They forced Dan out becauses he's 30+ in the junior team and wasnt getting results.

He knew no one else wanted him either, nor did he want to go anywhere else.

Perez is 30+ and not getting results either. But he brings in more $ than Dan for them and that's why they are afraid to move him until he chooses to retire.

Which then would be a slap in the face to Hadjar.
Recruiting Colapinto would be a slap in the face to Hadjar. Nothing Red Bull does with Perez, Tsunoda or Lawson would affect Hadjar adversely.
