It staggers me that Perez still has a seat in F1. In basically the same organisation they sack Danny Ric and keep Checo. The only thing that this proves is that cash is king in this sport. Perez is in more or less the best car on the grid and constantly can’t get out of Q1 but hey let’s keep him and sack the Australian. Regardless of Danny Ric I can’t think for the life of me how Checo has lasted this long. That angry bumfuddled Helmet must have stock in Perez because there’s no other reason for him to be in F1.

Helmut is frankly senile and needs to be moved on with perez but that won't happen either.

It’s also about having a Driver to represent that country

Take Checho out and who goes in from Mexico? That’s a big market to lose

Had DR stayed Australia would have had Oscar and Doohan out of 20 drivers

Here's a magical idea. Let's pick the best 20 drivers and not worry about what country they come from and what $ they have. Might just improve the quality of the product.

Reports are the Perez sponsors would continue their investment if Colapinto went to RB. So I'd say it's not as much about Mexico, but more about South America as a region.

or they use lines like "iM a pURisT"

No you're a flog
I think you're a few years yonger then me. I don't know if you caught the early 90s F1, before mandatory pitstops and the beginning of using the safety car.

But would you watch a 300km F1 race at F3/back-end F2 pace, with no safety cars and mandatory pitstops? You don't get a say in how the race turns out.

happy eagle is still thinking of his answer.

My username is a giveaway.

I watched on and off in the 90s, my older brother was into it so I stayed up and watched a few. I remember watching Imola 94 and bits and pieces of the last couple of Adelaide GPs. I really got into it late 90s and early 2000s. But I was younger and hadn't really hit my F1 nerd era yet.

My fun fact that nobody cares about and pretends is cool is that I've watched every single race live (TV or at the track) since the 2002 Malaysian GP.

So to answer the question I probably still would, yes. I'm a massive F1 nerd, not quite the Seb Vettel being able to name every champion ever but not far off

****, that's not bad.

Pfft, anyone can do that.

Mexico is part of North America. Just saying...

Now, if you'd said Latin America...

Totally disagree, it’s not about representing the country it’s money. If it was about countries then Brazil would have a full time driver every year and the Brit’s 1. Italy would be represented etc. it’s about who brings the cash. Being European based lots of Brit’s get a drive even though they shouldn’t. Next season even more Brit’s and let’s face it Bearman has stunk up F2 this season yet gets a seat.

You don’t think there’s any money coming his way via Mexico being the only driver and the contacts he has to bring $? You are arguing against your original point

Okay whatever

As an aside, I just watched a segment on TV about where Verstappen stands historically, and during it Martin Brundle came out with the startling fact that Sir Jackie Stewart counted 54 friends and rivals killed during his (Stewart's) career. That's an astounding stat. They've come a long way in 50 years, that's for sure

There’s a doco I got about a decade ago at the peak of the high seas and it goes through the largely negligent actions of Officialdom in causing those deaths; I can’t for the life of me remember its name

The old man Villenue’s death is hard to forget once seen. Beware if you go looking

My interest in motor sport is just F1 these days, it's been that way for about 20+ years now, I've slowly dropped off the rest due to lack of interest or lack of available time to watch them.

Supercars is a case in point…the new cars make it difficult to get excited. They are trying to carbon copy F1 personality driven interest but it’s still meh
