**** off Ten.

I may as well just stick 100% to my stream.

I couldn't believe all the promoting they were doing about it at the Aus GP.

GREAT NEWS EVERYONE!!! In 4 races you will get to see content that has been in HD for the last 3 years, exclusively in SD!!!

What a bunch of *****.

So Ricciardo now has two points after finishes at 9, 12 and 17. What does he need to do in order to secure a ride for next season?

He has a big mountain to climb if he's going to surpass the tallies of his dumped teammates last year.

Haven't seen you around here before Caesar, are you a motorsport fan?

In relation to your question, simply he needs to beat (or look more promising) than his also young and talented team mate Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne.

Ricciardo is 3-0 in qualy which is a positive for him, but down 2-1 in race finishes and 4-2 in points (not really an accurate representation when the team might only occasionally score points).

Unfortunately none of the races have been useful as far as a straight head to head fight because of circumstance.

At Melbourne, both had first corner incidents and Ricciardo had to pit which left him stone cold last, but then later he got a favourable safety car and was able to fight back and pass JEV on the 3rd last corner of the last lap.

At Malaysia, there was the 'norm' (i.e. torrential rain) which caused a red flag which was highly beneficial to JEV so they weren't really near each other at any point in the race.

And at China, not only were they using different cars, but they used completely different strategies (i.e. 2 stop vs 3 stop) so there was no real ability for a straight comparison.

I for one can not wait to see Ricciardo in an F1 car in qualy/race at Monaco (he was in FP1 last year).

He tears around that place like no one else. Last year in a much worse car than JEV in the Formula Renault 3.5 race, he qualified 1.1+ seconds faster than JEV, .6 faster than the next best (JEVs team mate) and a full 2 seconds faster than his team mate.

He then went on to take a dominant lights-to-flag victory.

Interesting, definitely food for thought. I will have to watch him a bit closer.

I am a casual fan. I watch most of the GP races if they're not in the absolute middle of the night, and try to catch a bit of qualifying as well, but don't follow the sport religiously. TBH in recent years I have been more interested in MotoGP as it's tended to be a bit more exciting from a race perspective with overtaking and whatnot.

Not really a bike person though. Am glad to see a bit more excitement returning to F1... the sport has definitely improved over the last few years IMO. Was a big car nut as a kid but after overtaking disappeared and Schuey started to win everything I went through about a decade when I wasn't that interested (from the late 90s through to a few years ago).

Taking into account how Alguesuari and Buemi were not given another season. I've figured that Ricciardo and Vergne have to show they are capable of dealing with, even thriving under, the pressure of driving the Red Bull, rather than any specific result. There could be factors or variables taken into account that we don't even know about.

HRT have announced they are going to skip the Mugello in season test and concentrate on moving their headquarters instead. As a result their Spanish GP updates won't be tested until Friday of the Grand Prix.

The first European round is traditionally where the big car upgrades are applied and the Mugello test is going to be very important for most of the teams as it will give them the opportunity to shake down the upgrades. HRT obviously doesn't think so.

Keep an eye out for 18 year old Kevin Ceccon he has done some testing for some teams this year.

Mitch Evans who is a year 17 old from New Zealand who is in the GP3 Series.
Mitch has done some work with Webber and i think he will be right up there this year in GP3.

Here we go again....another Webber to Ferrari story

Worst case senario is to be exactly where he is now except with it being with someone he gets along with and the honour of driving for Ferrari and a chance to beat someone he doesn't like so he has nothing to lose.

I wouldnt mind him at Fez, he is a good number 2, and has to do a better job than Massa.
Will be interesting to see if he is supported as much if he goes there.

hmmm - smh article quote.

Formula one star Mark Webber has firmed as a likely replacement for the struggling Felipe Massa at Ferrari next year. Webber, who has been on Ferrari's radar for years, will replace Massa in a one-year deal, according to Spain's El Confidencial. The seven GP winner is out of contract at Red Bull next year but wants to stay in a competitive team. Red Bull are keen to promote either Australian Daniel Ricciardo or Ricciardo's Torro Rosso teammate Jean-Eric Vergne. Rumours of Massa's departure from Ferrari have persisted for 18 months and Webber has entered the picture, according to El Confidencial, because of his ''great relationship'' with lead driver Fernando Alonso.

I'm sure Webber would want Ferrari on his resume..... An ex-Minardi reunion

I think that's pretty harsh.

Massa was a top quality driver until he nearly died. Who knows how all that brain injury affected his reactions etc.

Plus there are few (if any) tougher team mates than Alonso.

Outside of the one year that he nearly won the title, I can't think of any real reason to call him a "top quality driver". The thoughts that I most strongly associate with Massa is thinking "How the **** did he spin there?" so many times
