I only have one tattoo (ATM:D) but it is in a somewhat exposed area. It covers the entire length of the inside of my left forearm. I work in an industry where it doesn't really matter so it's all good. But for me a tattoo is more than just some pretty art work, it has to mean something. Mine is a latin phrase "Non Omnis Moriar".

It reminds me to make sure my life means something and to create something that will live on after I die. So I don't know if getting a face tattoo is meaningful or just for shock value. I wouldn't do it anyway.

A lot of young people are getting tattoos because they feel that it adds to their appearance. Good for them. They're in the prime of their lives right now and if they're tatts look shit when they reach retirement, well, who cares? In regards to the OP, I don't think face tattoos are very wise, but some neck ones can look okay. Each to their own, you may not like their tattoo, but they may love the way it looks?

For the record, I have one tat, but it can be easily covered when working which is good!

You know what, i have honestly never considered that, and it is a bloody good point!
I am still very undecided on wether to get a tatoo if carlton win the premiership. The major deterrance is that my family is jewish, and Judaism have a whole thing against it, but i don't think i'll be able to resist!

if you're thinking of opening a business, tattoo removals would surely be a growth business for the same reason no one is wearing brown flares or red bandanas anymore.

My current one is in the "Socially acceptable Rebellious tattoo zone". The next one is either going in the "I will never have a job that pays taxes" or the "67% chance of dragons wings or equivalent faggy lameness" zone

Keep stating that people don't get tattoo's because they're scared, you don't sound like a try hard at all. :rolleyes: Why do you think im afraid of being hurt? I've done far "scarier" things than getting a tattoo tough guy...

People make up all sorts of reasons why they get tattoo's, and that's fine they can do what they want. Im yet to hear one with any merit.

How about as a constant and permanent, symbolic reminder of something that may not be easy to retain consciously? Sure I could have scribbled something down on a piece of paper but then would I necessarily remember where it was? or look at as often as I needed to?

Mine is in a place that generally only myself or my girlfriend see it and I got to remind me of some personal thoughts and feelings that I never, ever wanted to forget. (And to look really tough without a shirt on)

I've lost immediate family im not sure what getting a tattoo does about it? I still pay my respects.

How important can something be that you need to get it tattooed on yourself so you don't forget it?
 
Don't hate them but don't like them.

Although i do hate it when people get a latin saying (or something along those lines) and live completely opposite to what it says. I also find things like "such is life" on a 16 year old kid funny (yes i do know someone with that and they are 16)

not against getting a neck tattoo, not sure sure about head/face. am slowly adding to a sleeve that creeps onto my hand at the moment. at 90 years old i will look like shit whether or not i have tattoos. i pay my GST like everyone else ;]

As has been said... It's a personal choice. I have a tat and plan on getting another but I definitely wouldn't consider the face/neck region. I'd prefer to keep mine in places where [/B]they won't be on display when I'm 80 years old and feel like wearing a short sleaved shirt.
