Adelaide vs. Melbourne
Adelaide Oval
May 20th, 2014 4:10
Kick-off at 4:05 PM
Recent History: The last 10 games have resulted in 5 wins a piece! 7 of the last 10 have been won by the away side, and Melbourne hold a 4-1 record against the crows at Adelaide Oval. Last time Adelaide beat the demons at home was in 2015.
ODDS: Adelaide $5.00 vs Melbourne $1.18
Recent Form: Adelaide LLLLL, Melbourne WWWWW.
Weather: Does anyone even care? Its nearly winter, lets just say around 14 degrees. Probably a breeze that the commentators will mention at some point with the token glance at the weather socks. Might rain, might not. There will be a sun in the sky, that will inevitably set.
Covid: Currently zero community cases, 9 active in lock-down. The South Aussie Government are looking to boost their revenue with $1000 fines for not checking in so dont forget! Try not to touch any sewerage as there's trace virus particles in the poos. Actually you can touch as much poo as you want, its all dead virus in there. Getting this game called off due to Covid and labelled a draw may be our best chance at not losing...
Possible Line Ups:
Adelaide
FB: [8] Jake Kelly, [41] Jordon Butts, [16] Luke Brown
HB: [33] Brodie Smith, [39] Tom Doedee, [17] Will Hamill
C: [38] Lachlan Sholl, [2] Darcy Fogarty, [14] Paul Seedsman
HF: [26] Harry Schoenberg, [32] Taylor Walker, [21] Rory Sloane
FF: [31] James Rowe, [22] Riley Thilthorpe [23] Shane McAdam
RUCK: [43] Reilly O'Brien, [29] Rory Laird, [9] Ben Keays
INT: [1] Chayce Jones, [7] Riley Thilthorpe, [11] Ned McHenry, [37] Ronin O'Connor
SUB: David Mackay
IN: Tex and McHenry
OUT: Frampton and McPherson, Mackay to sub. If Tex thinks he is right, he will play. We all know that. I predict another week of failing to bring in a 2nd tall defender
Melbourne
FB: [14] Michael Hibberd, [1] Steven May, [8] Jake Lever
HB: [3] Christian Salem, [35] Harrison Petty, [29] Jayden Hunt
C: [10] Angus Brayshaw, [5] Christian Petracca, [15] Ed Langdon
HF: [4] James Harmes, [25] Tom McDonald, [9] Charlie Spargo
FF: [30] Alex Neal-Bullen, [50] Ben Brown, [31] Bayley Fritsch
RUCK: [11] Max Gawn, [13] Clayton Oliver, [36] Kysaiah Pickett
INT: [23] James Jordon, [24] Trent Rivers, [26] Luke Jackson, [37] Nathan Jones
IN: Nathan Jones, Luke Jackson
Out Kade Chandler, Sam Weideman
Some writing about football:
When did Melbourne become good? This isnt some alternate reality from Rick and Morty. I will give you a clue. 2, 9, 4, 3, 9, 14, 12, 3. Thats not lotto numbers, thats 8 decent 1st round selections. Melbourne havent fluffed a first round draft pick since old mate Jimmy Toumpas. They have decent players across the field, great mix of experience and youth, good talls, fast smalls, and now seemingly a pretty decent coach.
Adelaide are at the opposite end of the table and rightly so. Most of us want Horne and lets face it, losing after being competitive against West Coast was another step in that direction. Each week we seem to see some progress from the youngens, and the ultimate goal is premierships not hovering around 10th.
Predictions:
No, this isnt the aftermath of the game. This is just the explosion after Fogarty and Petracca collide at the first center bounce. I am sure we have all dreamt about Fogarty bringing last weeks 1st quarter aggression and involvement into the next 10 years of his career. Lets hope he can take another step forward!
No 2nd tall defender could well see another dozen goals from Melbournes forwards. They have 3 decent sized targets up there, plus Gawn floating
about.
BTW, does Melbournes mascot just look like a sunburned Sylvester Stallone??
END RESULT: I think this could go 1 of 2 ways. Adelaide get completely wiped off the field with Gawn dominating an out of form Obrien, Doedee trying to play 2 roles in 1 intercepting and covering a tall, Ben Brown, Jackson, McDonald kicking 12 between them and Tex having a shitter. Or Tex will kick a bag, we bring in McAsey or Worrell, hold our own and go down gallantly by 30 points much like last week.
Melbourne by 10 goals.
