Facebook accessing photos from devices (without direction)

Before you say, but you agreed to permissions let me state something.

My understanding was that you need to give Facebook permission to access your device to be able to (with your permission) and when you request a photo to be uploaded or downloaded.

However, I discovered on the app today that Facebook had scanned the contents of my device and suggested I upload a photo I recently took to my story feed. It had already uploaded my photo suggesting it as a story ready to go.

This is very concerning given Meta essentially has unrestricted access to every photo you have taken. This has prompted me to delete the app. Otherwise how can you keep your content when AWAY from Facebook private

Turns out FB sets this up automatically but you can opt out. Still concerning how much data facebook has access to.
