The main reason I keep my Facebook account is to keep a connection to people from my past whom I have no real life connection with anymore. Which is a bit ridiculous since most of them hardly post anyway but I still like having that link to the past .

Struck a nerve did I? :$

haha

a bit OTT from me. was my first post after losing futsal. my post would go something like this now

Yeh i guess I could see why some people would like to stop using Facebook, and I'm not denying that you have stopped.

however I'm sick of how often people say they are "leaving FB and text them if they need to contact them" before seeing them tag their mate in a video of a fat bloke falling over 9 days later.

Has anyone here ever clicked on a link of something that was advertised on facebook? And if so why?

This has been discussed before on here, and I discussed this case study on another board, but those with depression using Facebook as a medium to seek attention really shit me. Especially when they go on and on about it, and it's all about "me me me, poor little me" whilst having scant respect for others.

Unfollowed a friend on the weekend

Most of her statuses are like "wah wah wah, poor me I can't find permanent work in my career field, everyone feel sorry for me I have depression and anxiety"

I told her to try being an engineer right now where there are many of them experiencing far worse employment prospects than her, let alone graduates in her profession with worse prospects than her. And on top of that they are also experiencing depression and anxiety. And some have mortgages and/or kids and wife unlike her.

But the "well I got a degree I'm going to use" came out and the "wah wah wah" attention seeking continues with the usual "poor hun" stuff from the usual sycophants. Others try to "relate" to her by discussing their similar problems and give her advice on how to cope, but it's the usual "oh but I've got it so much worse, I'm different" card playing.

She needs to get the **** off Facebook and seek professional help. And keep off Facebook whilst seeking help.

I check FB daily and it really isn't that bad once you're out of high school/most people have grown up.
If you have female friends afflicted with maternal overshare syndrome, that statement may not be true.

What about all the emotional support families and sufferers receive by seeing the like and share count rise!
