Greenwood missed most of the preseason with an ankle injury, he has played about 6 games in Williamstown seniors, a midfielder who is hard at it , he has very good hands, is very clean and has good skills, he is straight out of the TAC and is going along very well, a smaller body than Jong , both boys are doing a good job in the midfield for Williamstown .

Pretty disappointed to see Skinner in and Grant out considering the way the two contested the footy last week, I hope Skinner got shown some footage of him standing with hands on hips when ball is still in area and told he needs to be a lot better than that, I hope he improves a lot this week.

The logical explanation is that Grant must be carrying an injury, he missed the Collingwood game too.

He's playing well enough to deserve a spot in the team. Wonder about Jones too

Skinner has to be sub. He's got nowhere near good enough a tank to play a full game, or even 3 quarters.

Grant stiff if he's dropped. Must be some sort of injury. He deserves a spot in the team.

I'm sure he did and it's not like Zeph is not taking the place of a player who has been afforded many senior games without delivering much more than a modest performance as his best and many below par performances as his norm.

I agree, Grant was very effective up forward and there were aspects of his game that he that he hadn't shown in quite some time.

Interesting that we're persisting with three ruckmen, Minson would of course be rucking the majority of the game since he's the best we have. Plus he dominated Stephenson when they met in the VFL last season so we should win the hitouts. Still, I'd prefer to go in with two rucks and a full time tall forward instead of three.

Leading Goalkickers after r8:

Higgins 9
Jones* 7
Cooney 6
Dahlhaus 6

Geelong:

Chapman 9
Duncan 9
Motlop 8
Johnson 7

*Not playing tomorrow night

Surprised to see Jones dropped. Must be carrying an injury.

Good to see toughie back as we need games into him but surely Panos and Hill deserve a go at some point also. Good luck to Dan on his debut. I assume Cooney or Dickson to be the sub.

It'll be Skinner that's sub. He lacks the tank to run out a full game at VFL level and looked tired after one quarter last week.

im guessing the zeph or pearce to take the sub vest.

Hoping it is the zeph, because I would love to see how Pearce goes and not just in a short 20 minute frame.

Drop two forwards and bring in two backmen. Playing a kid who has played less than a half of footy and a debutant against the reigning premiers. The only thing that makes sense is if we are planning to go in with a small forward line.

Panos should have had more credits in the bank than Dickson at the start of the year, Hill has kicked goals in the 2s and both have done at least as much as Zephi this year so far.

I can understand picking for need as in Pearce's case but our forward line has been the most dysfunctional spot on the field and in need of some TLC and help.
I hope i have got it wrong and the MC really do know what they are doing, but some of these selection decisions, (and the Missed game time of many of the kids at Willi) are really starting to bother me.

Yeah, all valid points, I do have trouble picking what the MC will do this year. It was easier with Rocket lol.

But that said, no issue with Dickson being selected, nor Pearce....I rate this kid. He really has impressed me. The only thing is being selected after 2 weeks out. I know Zeph is a bit lucky, but part of me is happy he's in....he just has that...oh my god factor about him....

Yes....I noticed that too....but this kid needs to believe he could be part of it....maybe then it will inspire him.

Ok...I'm running at about 5 zip so far for getting anything right this week.....but while it makes sense for Zeph to be sub...see notes re tank....but I reckon it will be Pearce. Quick, hard at at it....he will come on an have a go.

Jones....not suprised....cept maybe with no Willi game, there is no way to find form. But Grant.....well....thought he was tracking ok. Maybe he's just getting a spell.

Confused......you bet...but not unhappy.:D

just watched the team announcement video on the dogs website, skinner was on the bench in that.

Yeah I noticed that too, it was Skinner, Wallis, Pearce and Dahlhaus

Skinner has to be the sub, fits in as an impact player at the moment.

Liked the three rucks rotating against North- worked well. Forward line with Dickson worked much better than with Grant and Jones.

Not sure where Skinner fits in- Geelong will be wanting to match up Scarlett on someone.

The team this week is a little surprising, but I'm happy overall. Jones was terrible last week, and has been all year. Grant obviously isn't doing what the coach asks either. They finally are making big calls, and I like the fact, Skinner is getting a go and Pearce. Don't know if we'd win now, but I like Kelly as an out for them, as I think he's important

Looking at this team selection, it's probably stretching it to believe we could beat an angry, fresher Geelong. What's more obvious is that Macca, however, is developing a team for the future and in his 'image'. Also there must be valid reasons why players like Panos and Hill haven't been promoted yet. I'm happy with the way Macca and his match committee are managing things, and with each new young player who makes his debut, it provides us supporters with a sense of excitement and anticipation.

Every new inclusion is a potential future bulldog star and another reason to look forward to the match. I was surprised to see Grant dropped however.
