Coleman, L.Ashcroft, McLachlan, the big question

Obviously Kiddy is a question because of the knee but if he can get right, he is almost a seamless transition from Zorks. L.Ashcroft and McLachlan already look the goods but the big question is Oscar. I really like us chasing Draper just quietly.
Spot on with Kiddy in the Zorks role, ideal would be to have 2 elite ball users out of the back half though.. and I think we have Neale "replacement" worked out, any of Ashcroft x 2 or Annable, want to be bloody good to approach Lachie levels of play though as a pure inside mid.

Not too worried about the big O successor, you can get by with an adequate break even ruck and still be a contender for flags eg Darcy Fort.

IMO Charlie in his best form is the hardest to replace, you can not beat pace.

Max Gawn was pretty adamant that Smith was going to be the next big thing, and I am biased enough to believe anything I want to agree with, but he's still young. Draper is 26, not particularly fantastic as a ruck, but a good age if we want to give Smith a few more years to develop.

I will say rucks dont tend to hit their peak till about 26. I agree that sometimes Draper has been a bit of a meme player. For example people are really critical of the round the corner kicking but he kicked 7.2 this year doing it which is way more accurate than our forward line. He looks like to me he had started to grow up this year and figure out what he needed to do to be a serious player. He was willing to change his role to be a forward and did reasonably well for a poor team and then went to the middle and got hurt. He wouldnt be the worst option going around

Nah we have our own sharpshooter in Gardiner 6.2 this year ;)

He's going to get offers of 900k and is coming off an achilles. He doesn't offer much in the way of intercept marking either. He's not really a forward ruck either though the bombers have played him there.

Pass!

No ruck is worth big money... unless he is a prime younger Max Gawn type and even then I wouldn't be giving prime Max over a Million a season, even he is not all that great resting forward.

Elite KPF who are more than handy ruck relief are the hardest breed to find and very valuable eg. Joe Daniher, Tom Hawkins.

Not sure Tom Hawkins ever actually played relief ruck.
He took a few contests when the ball was deep forward but not around the ground from memory.

Im not saying he would be the highest target, but being a free agent at his age and with where our list is at? I can understand asking questions of him. I dont think he would come here (would get more money elsewhere and is he going home to Adelaide?) but I get the consideration

NicNat.

Not much good resting forward either, averages .5 goals per game over his career, similar to Max Gawn and Dean Cox, prime NicNat right now 850K per year IMO.

NicNat was worth top of the market money, but also got injured a lot towards the end.

Doesn't mean Oscar would stay on the list if Draper came. Oscar is expendable.
Nah, bad move. Big O clearly is a heart n soul type player for us and our club won't punt him like a commodity.
