Where to now for Supercars?
Got the fans for now but 1 car make from 2022 will see all events at risk?
Maybe SUV supercars as these are more relevant?

It's a shame but today really should have been announcing the cessation of the Insignia and Astra in Australia. The Commodore nameplate should have been laid to rest with the sad closure of Australian car manufacturing.
Holden's future unfortunately looks pretty bleak.

That thing they released was never a Commodore. Up there with the ugliest car I have been unfortunate enough to see. And wagons are even worse. As above,should have been discontinued when Our manufacturing died in the arse

As most have said, they needed to can the nameplate once the last car came off the production line at Elizabeth.
As for Supercars, one would assume the Camaro will come along in 2022 along with BMW.
As much as I'm not a Holden person by any means, it's a sad day. Mum had a Commodore 4 when I was a youngster.... those blue vinyl seats were horrific in the summer.

Hopefully move to GT3 or DTM rules.
Only thing that will save it considering that it's a series with rules based out of 1 very small country.

Holden will end up being retired as a name as well.
Although HSV will stick around.
Agree with GT3 as its an internationally recognized category. Maybe custom tweek of rules and format to appeal to the general Australian public but other than that, make it happen.

Then they just need Brabham to turn that BT62 into a Gt3 reg. There's your local hero car.

FFS, Mercedes outsold them last month!
Holden, Australia wide, sold less than 3,000 cars. That’s not a viable model for such a retail network that Holden have.
The Commodore was the warrior for GMH over decades, but it’s demise has exposed their consumer offer as being very, very shallow.

Don't understand how this is such devastating news, for starters the ZB is a rebadged Opel for the consumer market. So meh.
Secondly, the tears rightly flowed at the end of Aus car manufacturing - not this. This maybe sad news for diehard supercar fans but that's about it. For Holden and Ford fans that aren't wholly invested in supercars that shipped sailed with the VF and whatever model was that last Falcon.
As for supercars - the day that Aus car manufacturing was announced to cease to exist was the imminent end to the category. Remember supercars was renamed after the ATCC. Locally made race cars with teams and drivers for the specific purpose of race on Sunday sell on Monday, locally made cars the broader public buy on Monday and could relate to.
Now it's all about how safe and green the car can be, not which re -badged import won on the weekend. If you really want a fast car from new then you could be a sheep and buy a mustang like everyone else. At least in the old days if you bought a GT Falcon off the floor or an SS Torrie or Commodore you knew it was all Aus muscle. That's the real sad story, not this one.
