Cricinfo's team of the season:
D. Warner (Thunder)
M. Owen (Hurricanes)
C. Connolly (Scorchers)
G. Maxwell (Stars)
T. David (Hurricanes)
M. Wade (Hurricanes)
J. Overton (Strikers)
B. Dwarshuis (Sixers)
M. Steketee (Stars)
J. Behrendorff (Scorchers)
L. Pope (Strikers)
Surely Rogers makes it over Steketee?

Victorians are pretty parochial about cricket which for the most part is a good thing but I think they've struggled with the split of the state team a bit more the New South Wales public has. Those record crowds at the MCG a few years back now with hindsight look like crowds turning out for a all Victorian game of cricket rather than the start of some sort of arch rivalry between the two teams.
I live in Western Vic, in theory I should be a Renegades fan, but I’m a cricket fan first and foremost and an MCC Member so I support the ⭐️. In a nutshell that’s the main problem with it. Swapping players just confuses people

Hurricanes are off to the Grand Final.

I predict it will be Hurricanes vs Stars.

What a thriller that would be.

Owen
Wade
David
Maxi
Stonis
Cartwright.

Loving this season haven’t missed a game.

Cmon Canes just 1 more.

Agree. The ICC have admitted in the past that the scheduling of comps has become a bit of a free for all. As much as people tend to not like over governance, I think they need to step in and sort out the calendar and clearly designate windows for domestic comps and international tours.

I think we will see more a move that players are first and foremost contracted to franchises and then released for International duties. It will be the end of the traditional Cricket Australia contract.

With the scheduling I don't see how that works for example in Australia. Either the test matches or the BBL have to move in the Australian summer.

If this happens you won't have to worry about an overlap as none of the Australian players will be contracted to BBL teams. They'll have 12 month IPL contracts.

next summer, as far as i can tell, the test players will be available for the last half of the season plus finals.

the following summer though, the test players won't be available at all for any of the BBL, with an indian away tour smack bang in the middle of january.

t20 is obviously the way to go to attract newcomers and non traditional cricketing countries such as the usa to the game. I think eventually at least in such nations, people/fans will just barrack or follow players rather than teams. Much like how here casual followers follow players in the nba. And the reason for that is the transient nature of players.

could we get to a point where IPL franchise owners own aussie teams?
If so, how could you see the partnerships panning out?

Sydney SuperKings
MI Sydney
Sunrisers Melbourne
Melbourne Super Giants
Brisbane Knight Riders
Royal Challengers Hobart
Melbourne Titans
Perth Capitals
Adelaide Royls

yeah not so sure about that.

melbourne a 3rd team ? no punjab kings affiliate?

we've already tweaked the competition with the first 6 years being state based.
the last 14 years have been solid, everyone now knows the teams , the colours, the brand etc.

i'm sure there will be changes ahead as time goes by though.

Did you read any of the post? It’s not the most profitable but it’s improving their smallest market significantly. I’ll put my house on a Sixers win on Tuesday followed by the Canes being bundled out so the final is either the Stars or Sydney Smash.

Can you describe this said house before I take this bet?

I don’t want to win a shit box.

Next you will be telling us the fact the WCE have been shit for the last 4 years, is all the AFL’s fault.
Very disappointed in you not getting back to me on this said house you were willing to bet on.

Having said that, in good faith just send me the address and I will get a mate to check it out.

Since you were so sure that the Hurricanes were going to lose, will you throw in your car as well?

ah yes sorry two melbourne teams, i tripled up by mistake.

I decided against a P Kings affiliate, instead opting for the mighty Sunrisers.

In many ways i cant see it happening though. If what the well fought border-gavaskar series unearthed, the general australian public (cricket fans) arent fans of indian/indians (i.e show us your visas etc)

I went to two days of the Test (Days 3 & 4) at the MCG and used PT to get there and back from Western Vic.

80% of fans in the non MCC section were of Indian 🇮🇳 descent and I can assure you they weren’t barracking for Australia. The Train on the way home emptied out at Tarneit.

Does something need to be done or looked at in relation to this? Seems to be a common complaint when we play india

Not at all - these folks are cricket nuts - looking thru the Dowling Shield results - lots of South East Asian kids playing and performing well.

Can’t beat the Mark Waugh popped collar

The Saints bringing back the old school collars for our 150th game was pretty good.
