Royals .......I think tuggas just trying to keep it real....positives and negatives... ...not just negative all the time

I must admit I get very negative at times on this board especially game day when we are getting flogged .....that's emotions getting the better of me

I don’t think there will be much fall out. We’re a very conservatively run club and whilst that might frustrate fans and the media, we are also a very successful club.

What I would like to see is more players available to start preseason with the young players. I’m sick of hearing about senior players coming back from their breaks later due to their age and “knowing their bodies”.

If they’re too old to start pre-season early, maybe they don’t fit the age profile the team needs at this point.

That’s where I’d be starting conversations with the players that are over 30yoa. “We expect you to do a full preseason, are you able to comply with this?”
As per the AFLPA agreement the senior players cant be forced to commence when the younger guys do although a few come through at different times to do a session or two. There definitely should be a standard put in place however that all players should have to meet before they are up for selection

Been a shocking year but It's good to try and find a balance Westy.
Poster in question hardly ever, if at all can find something positive to say.

If someone does something good, you hear nothing.
Makes a mistake, he's all over him.

Getting games into some of the kids like Hough, Edwards and Bazzo is a positive.
Yep, Jones and Yeo into the backline.
Obviously Culley in the midseason draft.

Just hope we get our picks in the draft right.
Since 2019 the club has gradually fallen away and no one at the club took any measures to fix the issues, apart from the Kelly trade which has been a unmitigated disaster.

I'm happy to heap praise on Kennedy how he shone brightly when the chips were down and how Hough has come up good in his first season but in summary the club has been headed backwards for too long and the club were completely sheepishly blindsided by it

In normal circumstances you'd make big changes but we haven't. We went ahead and offered the coach a 3 year deal in 2020 when the rot had already set in.

Anyway I'm just repeating myself again. I hope we make the right choices come post season. Add 2-3 more picks under 30 by trading out Gaff and and one or two others. Retire one more of Hurn or Shuey, fix the pre-season training etc.

Better signs from the players post bye and we should get some great kids in the draft. I am still extremely concerned about our club admin and how delusional they are in regards to on field (appalling men and women sides) and how poor they have been off field (terrible merchandise and apparel partnership, club song nobody likes, injury management and prevention)

Don't think we need any major changes. Maybe if we'd only won 1 game for the season, but not yet.
Plus had we not been hit by COVID we almost certainly beat North in round 2, and would we still be panicking if we had 3 wins at the moment? I doubt it.

If we hadn't been hit by covid I'd say we be mid table.

Probably would've won 8 or so games through older guys

The West Coast Eagles are well aware of the ramifications of this season and have put out the following press release regarding changes at the club in 2023 per Trevor Nesbitt......
Nothing Offer GIF

I am not expecting any change in the coaching panel.
Likewise I am not expecting any change in Management.

Footy Dept more of the same although if The Pie Man does retire ( 🤞 ) then we need to replace both Head of Recruiting and List Manager roles.
Hopefully we appoint two people and not a one person two hats approach.

However I will be very disappointed if there isn’t any significant changes to our Strength and Conditioning Dept.

They keep trotting out the injury list as a valid reason for our 2022 demise, need to look close as to the “ WHY “, we have had a wretched run of soft tissue and lower leg injuries.

I think it’s time to move Kofed on.

The mindset of Management looking forward will be more clear IMO, by what they do with the List Management and Head Recruiting roles.

I have tried to be be balanced and measured in this post, because there is a lot that frustrates the sh1t out of me about the Club at the moment.

Let’s just say that what I would like to see changed and what I am expecting by way of changes, are two very different things.

I'm assuming by your handle that you are also an East Perth "supporter"? Thank heck they don't have a site for you to post your positivity there also because it has been very lean at Leederville for some time now. Go Royals!

Sadly having moved interstate my interest in them has faded over the years however having worked for them for 8 years prior to that ive seen the gradual decline of that club which really is sad and it will never recover from the selling of their soul to the eagles ..
There is a website for people to whinge about all things east perth however seems to be inhabited by a group of 5 or 6 talking amongst themselves however they have little to no idea what they are on about which although more than Tugga 27 seems to know isnt enjoyable to contribute to.

Didn't some of the older guys return with the 1st-4th year players last preseason? Find this whinging about them coming back late a bit stupid. They don't need to build the extra fitness base the younger guys do.
It’s not about the fitness of the older players it’s about having the new players learn off the older guys and actually having a decent sized group to train with.

I'm genuinely concerned the club will blame our worst ever season on covid and not make the required changes that typically happen when you're at this point.

The fact that only Kennedy is retiring of our older brigade is a huge red flag.

And thats the thing if all the old guys are left then it shows how weak the management and coaches are that wont make the hard call on those blokes because everyone knows if they are there they get picked.
