Personally think Petch when fit is best 22. Each and every year he has improved and if not cut short by injury I think he would be a genuine mainstay now. Another year of constant injury and it could be curtains.

I think Waterman easily gets next year playing significantly more forward. If he kicks 20+ goals, takes a defender and allows Allen to play third tall or as the man jumping into the pack I think he is well worth keeping.

As soon as we have a better prospect who is AFL ready then sure, Waterman moves to the side. However say Darling retires in 2 years. Even if we draft a top tier key forward next year we're probably still going to have Waterman on our list for another 3-4 years and he'll probably make it to 150 games.

It’s a complexed problem that the Club now faces as it’s got itself into a real * pickle.

Agree that so many of our list don’t look the goods and I would also point out that their development has also been shyzenhouse.

I look at by way of example -
Jack Williams

When I watch the Beagles I think, just what the * is he learning out there standing in the forward 50 watching all/most of the activity in our backline or midfield.
Until we rectify the Beagles plight we will just continue stifling and delaying the progression of most of the kids that don’t play starting 22 for the AFL side.

The list rebuild will itself be compromised if we don’t URGENTLY, fix the shit show of a Strength and Conditioning / Medical Team.

The injury woes are not a aberration this year, we haven’t managed this well for several years now, more so the treatment and prevention of the injuries.

It’s just another area of sub par performance, that the powers to be have been trying in vain to cover up, by blaming Covid as the root of all the Clubs problems.

There seems to be to much singing Kumbaya , holding hands whispering warm fuzzies about the place.

I think we have difficulty making hard decisions and then that’s been exacerbated by taking way to long to act before we execute the hard decisions.

Tough calls and decision haven’t been made in a timely manner and as a consequence inch by inch over the past four years standards have slipped.

It’s all well and good saying we are going to hit the draft, but unless we get all the ducks lined up in all Departments, it’s daft to think that new players will themselves rectify the Clubs woes.

Media people like Cornes & Bunions, all be it in a sensational manner, point this out with monotony.

Bottom line is that the Standard Setters at the Club are the Board and Executive Management.

The last few weeks listening to the deflection and denial of the Club to outside criticism, when added to the circle jerk, of the mutual masturbation society, toward each other publicly acknowledging how well they are all doing their jobs, collectively paint a sorry picture going forward.

Our Club at the moment remind me of the Hans Christian Andersen Parable -The Emperors New Clothes where the problem was that no one had the courage to tell the Emperor that his new clothes, that he was basking about thinking he was attired in all his splendour, we’re in fact rags.

Vanity has its price just as complacency has with West Coast.

So when you ask what will be the fallout from 2022 be …… that will depend on the Clubs willingness to execute change….. other wise it will be more of the same in a downward spiral.

While I see the advantages of a 2nds team for our fringe players who are trying to break into the 22, it's quite evident that developing players would be much better suited simply playing for a competitive WAFL team like the old model.

e.g. Imagine if Jack Williams spent this year playing in the East Freo forward line

I got zero confidence our medical, strength and conditioning team will be able to get petch right.

"In the changerooms, the club appears frightened — or is too pig-headed — to make the hard call on its veterans Luke Shuey, Shannon Hurn, Nic Naitanui and Jack Redden.

They are refusing to aggressively rebuild the list, as it should have done 12 months ago when it was apparent the Eagles were about to fall off a cliff."

"Nic! Congrats on the B&F and AA selection. Great year. That's why it was so hard to cut you."

Agree with most of that, except your weird version of the Emperors New clothes....dude was wearing nothing not rags....

Not sure how you can say that. In 2019, he averaged 10 disposals a game, and kicked a goal a game. In 2021, he averages roughly 10 disposals and 1 goal per game. In 2022, he averaged 10 disposals and 1 goal per game.

His 'breakout' game was when he kicked 5 goals against Port, and that was back in 2019.

He's struggled with injuries, but early in the season when injuries weren't a factor and after he (reportedly) had a great pre-season... he was utter trash. He looked so clueless.

Maybe he looks like he has improved because everyone else has gone backward?

It makes you question how the hell its been allowed to get in the shape that it is currently…..
the refusal to cull no hopers after two years and hang on to cloggers for 6-8 years really is baffling..you don’t have to be a genius to see who can play and who cant and move them on. Make the recruiters and list management team earn their cash and find replacement players who can enhance a list not cloggers think outside the box and get players, not athletes with potential to be players.
Too much loyalty to mates. I cannot see how Jamieson is ever going to be an AFL footballer. Sure he had a good go when he got his chance in a dire situation. How is he ever going to be big enough to be a ruckman? And he can’t play anywhere else. So five years of list space to someone who’s never going to make it. Foley is in the same boat. Four years on the list, 20 games and he’s as timid as can be. There’s a time for being supportive and a time for being ruthless. We aren’t ruthless often and then for the wrong reasons - the last time I can remember was Jetta.

Are you on crack? We were ruthless as **** with Jetta. In 2019 he played 22 games and had a season arguably as good as his 2018 including being one of the only players who looked like they gave a **** and put in a good performance in that abomination of a game vs the hawks in round 23. The next year he cracks the shits in the first hub and is delisted at the end of the year after being fit for most of it and just not played.

I think you have misunderstood me. As I see it ruthlessness was displayed towards Jetta but not for the right reasons. He was cut not because he couldn’t play (which would have been a valid reason) but because he upset someone/ some persons and was persona non grata after that. I think we are on the same page or are we?
My implication is that ruthlessness is rarely shown and when it is, it is for the wrong reason(s) - i.e personal and vindictive rather than rational.

This year was his 3rd year on the list and he added 7 kgs from last year and has added 14 since being drafted.

The focus on Jamo and Williams by this board is so over the top it's nuts. We have so many more pressing issues, these two are going ok compared to most other rucks at similar ages.
