I had an incident last night where i was upgrading some armor and needed leather, I went my workbench and i had stacks of raider leathers in there, so i had to drop it on the ground and scrap it. Is this right? i thought it scrapped automatically?

Just scrap inside the crafting screen

Keep it in your inventory. Go to crafting bench. Select it and you can choose to modify or scrap it.

Same goes for guns at weapons bench

Started rocking power armour more now i have x01 gear.

Tbh its really fun. Main beefs apart from obvious depletion of fusion cores.
-i rush exploration more because i don't want to waste my cores. I hate rushing. I'm also too scared to get out of my armour and risk losing it.
-Repairing every piece after a mission uses bulk resources!

I used to be like that with rushing so i didn't use too much fusion core, but that has the opposite effect. I get all my cores from looting every little container while questing, and you'd be surprised how often a partially hidden container will have 4 fusion cores in it. I no longer sparingly use my PA, and the past week ive gone from 17 fusion cores to 25.

On another topic, finally did the Search for Virgil quest last night cos I knew it would take ages, but the atmosphere and environment for that quest is probably the best so far. Also found 2 new sets of Power Armour on the way which ill go back and collect tonight.

Hear ur pain there. Im planning on getting the level 9 Intelligence perk - Nuclear Phycist. Makes fusion cores last twice as long with two perk points added.....plus radiation weapons do twice as much damage. Apart from the possibly xp loss with idiot savant, feel it may be a pretty sic perk.

This game sure is insane trying to dump a Behemoth on ya at lvl 12

As a sneaking sniper you can kill it with some exploits over the caution system though... tanked like 20 sneak attack crit head shots though, took a while. Apart from an assault rifle that I barely have enough ammo for, the loot was crap

It's usually handy to get the more ammo/cap perks early on, that way it's less of an issue further down the track.

Noticed a weird issue yesterday, I bumped into some Raiders at a Gas Station down towards the SW corner, once I killed them all I found a full set of Raider II Power Armour just sitting there but when I walked up to it all the parts were red. Once I added it to the collection back home and went to take the core out it was counted as stealing (including a dislike from Piper). It's my 2nd full set of that type so I doubt I'll ever use it, but I guess I'll have to tell Piper to piss off some time so I can "steal" the parts and re-add them.

So it looks like me and Hancock have separated.

I was in one of my own settlements and people were in it (settlers) I didn't realise where I was but I had the option to pacify them so I took it, that pissed them off and they attacked.

I ran away and I got the message pop up to send Hancock back to a settlement, I declined and he went back home.

I don't know why this happened, can only presume he got mad and left.

Done that mission at the saugus ironworks last night where you have to retrieve the sword thing for that dude but anyway there's like a mini valley thing between Finch farm & the factory & there happened to be a caravan & guards trecking though there so I decided to let them help me by drawing all the exterior Forged dudes to that side & let them open fire on each other...
All goes to plan & next thing there was a group of a dozen or so Gunners there aswell. No idea where they came from but within a few minutes it was crazy. There was about 30 people in there altogether. Forged, Gunners, a doctor & his caravan gaurd then me & Strong in an all on all Rumble. There was even an Assaultron that I have no idea who it was aligned to. A loaded up Brahmin running around in the middle trying to avoid the gunfire... was almost like the big battle scene from Anchorman. Lol so much fun

Right next to the farm is an auto wreckers full of gunners. Some are chilling up on the overpass so you probably aggroed them. I only know it well because it took me about 3 goes to clear it at level 50. First time I just derped around. The second I killed everyone on the outside then just strolled in but it turns out one of the gunners had a fatman or something. Third time lucky.

It's just the 5.56mm that doesn't drop much early game, I'm well stocked in all the other types of ammo. I am not even at diamond city with this run yet, or even met Danse

Some bugs with certain bags/boxes when it comes to "stealing" I think, I went to a random tent with no one there and one of the chests was red. Loads of bugs in this game tbh. And Piper can suck it

I did notice a couple of dudes sniping down into the chaos from up on the overpass so that would make sense.
Yeah that was my second attempt... got smoked before even getting to the door the first time hence thinking it might be a good idea getting those caravan guards involved.
Yeah when I got in the door I was under fire pretty much straight away. Used Strong as a mutant shield until I was able to get my bearings & pick off a few dudes [emoji14]

Did that quest a couple of nights ago Never was involved in a huge rumble though. Managed to rescue his kid and get the sword. Did you happen to die in a pit of molten steel by any chance? Cos I did

Nah I didn't. Came incredibly close though. Reckon I hit the rim & bounced the right side of it luckily [emoji14]

Found it a pretty enjoyable mission though. The little confrontation/dialogue before the last fight was pretty cool. Wish I had higher charisma or whatever for it

Did you stumble across the terminal detailing all the horrific ways they punish people who step out of line?

"Fed to forge" and "Eyes fed to Mirelurks" are a couple that come to mind.

The first time i went to that wreckers i snuck up and unleashed a missile on one of them that struck him flush.

Even with sneak attack it took off about 2mm off his health bar. I knew then i was in for a bad time. Glad i was in power armour.

Some awesome combat armour on the boss in that place

Im currently Half way through silver shroud quest.

"Speak as shroud" needs to be a dialogue option for the rest of the game
