Got the first five seasons on DVD, and I can't even stomach watching through the first disc of the fourth. Simpsons, Futurama and South Park are leagues ahead.

Simpsons, futurama and south park shit all over family guy.

Family guy is the sort of show you watch one episode, laugh. Watch another one, laugh a little less etc etc.
It's repetitive crap, brilliant for a very short period before it churns out the same stuff and gets tedious.

American dad is a lot better.

Ps: Futurama is very underrated, the characters are very solid. Massive fan. Not to mention the stories having the right amount of comedy and "emotion"
Something the simpsons has missed for a long long time.

seasons 13-19 of simpsons were pretty bad, I think some of the past ones have been pretty good though. Not 'old' Simpsons good, but very good TV either way. I don't think some people are thinking it through when they blurt out the old 'new Simpsons suck' line.

I think its probably more that most people were so turned off by S13-19 they havent bothered with S20 onwards.

New Simpsons may be bad, but it's still better than most of the crap on TV (Family Guy included).

That said, whatever happened to the matricidal, machiavellian Stewie that we all used to know and love? From what I've seen from the newer seasons, that side of his character is almost entirely gone.

American Dad is much better than Family Guy, hate Star Trek, but im a big fan of Patrick Stewart since American Dad started. I even think that the Cleveland show is better than Family Guy.

Yea thats what i thought too at first and i thought Cleveland was the worst character in Family Guy, but after watching it mainly coz there was nothing else it grew on me.

The Simpsons is clearly a better program. I appreciate South Park for its social commentary etc., but don't really find it that funny or entertaining.

The Simpsons at its best is better than Family Guy's best, no doubt there. But The Simpsons' best was a long, long ****ing time ago. It's been crummy for a over a decade's worth of episodes. Family Guy's worst has never been as bad as some of the shit The Simpsons has served up.

The last 2-3 seasons of Family Guy have been some of the shittest television you will ever see and in no way is better then the rubbish later season Simpsons.

Family Guy really lost something after it was brought back with that 90 minute Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story DVD. It just seemed like they had listened to too many focus groups that had said "MORE RANDOM JOKES! WE LOVE THE RANDOM JOKES, THEY TOTALLY CRACK US UP AFTER A FEW SCOOBS!!"

Futurama has held up much better, and despite a couple of weak episodes in season 4 and a few in the current season remains a much higher quality show in terms of storyline, character development and humour.
