What do you guys think of having a premium 8th Foward/Back and 7th Mid to cover up coming byes?
Some premiums can be had for cheap at the moment, players such as Fisher, Riewoldt, Rioli, LeCras etc.
How would you compare the strategy of sideways trading when a team has a bye (eg. Gibbs to Suckling) to upgrading a Puopolo to Fisher or Krakour to LeCras/Rioli/Riewoldt. Just using name for example.

Sorry for the lack of updates this week, i've been having internet problems (Bigpond ).

Apparently, it should be fixed now so i'll try get the update up tonight. Not expecting too many trades anyway.

Personally, I've got 3 left, but am planning to use two of those this week to trade an additional premium into my mids and fwds.

I've still got Heath Shaw sitting on my bench, but for the time being, he can stay there. Danny Stanley should be good enough to cover for him, and if he continues to score well, then I'll save that last trade for LTI.

Are you famous now? ;)

Surprised at the lack of Travis Cloke last week?

The most inform forward premium by some margin of late and by picking him it pushes a C/F to your 8th/9th forward or 7th/8th mid giving more points and better cover for the remaining rounds.

2500 could be about par this week ;)
The Convicts trade of STanley must already be hurting...
@BiTeGumsux Also surprised mate. Brought him in about a month ago but for some reason he still remains relatively unique ?

Some really od trades there...Sylvia, Waters, Gilbee...am I missing something?

How did you go Jollo?

Sylvia wasn't that odd, very cheap and had a dream run in the last 3 weeks as a coach could easily had hoped for a few 130+ in that time when shit sides don't man up late in the year.

Im guessing Waters and Gilbee was purely for a point of difference. Unique.

Yeah....Good luck with that :thumbsu:

I'm a week late on the update so Waters was still fit and Sylvia still in the side when the trades were made.

Still no idea as to why Gilbee was bought. Went through his scores and he hasn't tonned all year. Unique yes, but hey surely there was someone better than him floating around at a cheap price (if in fact he had to buy low). Anyway just my point of view and there could have been a few drinks on a friday night which made this trade happen, not to mention he had the bye next week (which happened to be this week ;) )

I believe one of the reasons for this post is to dig into our (famous DTers (I am definitely in the "Famous" rather then good category)) mind and actions.

I haven't traded for about 6 weeks now and am still on 4 trades to go. The interesting thing is what I do this week with the possiblity of Zac Smith missing on the same weekend that my backup ruck, Drew Petrie has the bye. Do I wear the donut, or trade to avoid it. I am not sure what I will do yet, but have started to consider who to bring in. I only have 14k odd cash in the bank, so player to come in has to be just about the same price.

One of the things I have been looking at is what team has the better run home, and I am thinking its the Suns! With this in mind, I am thinking of a slightly risky move in trading Josh Fraser. I think I might only need to use him this week, with the hope that my Fowards will hold up enough to cover Petrie playing ruck. This week Fraser has the Lions, which could be nice for him. And have Crows and dees and Hawks (who although strong, not as much in the ruck). The option is Lobbe who has dual positioning but I don't really want to touch a Port player.

So, I hope Zac plays and this isn't an issue for me, but that is a thought if he is likely to miss this week and I decide to try to cover him!

TBH Molly, you'd be crazy to cop a donut with 4 trades. You have three weeks to spend four trades. If you sit this week, you're forced to make two in Rd 22 and two in Rd 23. Far better value in them out of trading now.

IMO you should be looking for a single trade for Smith or double trade to bring a gun ruck in for last four rounds.

Yep, thats what I am thinking although the original thought was 1 trade round 22 (trade out a Cat fwd, either Johnson or Chappy), 1 in 23 (to cover Gibbs, Scotland and Murphy) and leave 2 for the sillyness that is round 24!

Thinking now of either Trading Chappy and Smith for a gun ruck and good fwd, trade Smith to Fraser. Trade a Cat fwd next round and cover Blues round with backs and m/f. Still like the idea of having 2 trades before round 24!

Who are you thinking of bringing in for Chappy/SJ capable of outscoring them in Rd's 23-24?

Ditto for Gibbs/Scotland/Murphy in Rd 24?

These guys are top of the tree for ppg... I honestly think you're a fair chance of going backwards in points scored with those trades. IMO you should be looking to upgrade the fwd/mid/bac you will be playing over these rounds (ie bring the best scoring DP FWD/MID you don't have to cover SJ/Chappy/Murphy, upgrade B8).

You know, that is part of the issue! If I don't have to trade this week (i.e. Smith & Cox play) making a double trade next week to upgrade didak to say Fyfe or pav or ROK or someone is an option to cover Chappy/SJ. Another option if I have to trade this week is Hale/Lobbe that can also be an emergency and cover rucks.

All these things are tricky. It will depend how stretched I am next week! Getting 90 next week over 40-50 means that same player has to get within 20-25 the next two weeks of the player I trade out (probably Chappy). Two of the trickiest things are going to be Pies v cats and Hawks v Suns round 24.

Even starting to get a bit jumpy about the Pies round 23 trip out west! Could they pull a Dockers from last year and rest half their side?

Fair likelihood... Cats v Pies could be a DT massacre. How much goround do you consider you could make up with two trades though? 200 points (100 each for two donuts)?

Like your chances of making more than 200 points up with two trades over four rounds better.

Molly you could potentially gain 50ppg (not taking into account your alternative scenario) by upgrading Zmith this week. These points need to be netted off against your alternative startegy of using 4 sideways premium trades (by the difference between the traded in premium and your rookie cover if you didn't sideways) but if you used your last 2 trades to do this (sideways premiums) then I think you will easily come out on top. Especially if you use them to trade out one of your Cats next round. Didak/Mzungu can cover the other one.

You could also be cheeky and potentially generate enough cash this week to be able to make another bench upgrade so that you don't have to make any sideways trades in the last few rounds. 4 trades is a good position to be in.

I agree that this is the round to use them as with Smith, Bailey, Petrie, Goldy, Cox all possibly missing if you are going to make ground this week it will be in the rucks. Very doubtful many other positions will be affected by the bye apart from maybe Boomer.

Many will have limited or no trades left and be forced to take a zero or be limited in who they can trade in.

Just my thoughts......and Josh Fraser is risky; however tis the season!

Meanwhile, this thread has become a ghost town. Any of the famous coaches have anything to say?

There are only 2 rounds left, so y'all might as well post now, because it's a loooooooong time until march next year!
