Fan goes to Matthew Nicholls “you can’t handball with one hand you bald headed flog”. Nicholls then pointed at the fan and security escorted him out of the stadium.

That is ******* ridiculous. AFL is fast losing the plot with this sort of stuff. Love how they quickly escort this Blues fan out. Yet anytime there’s a fight it takes ages for action.

Umpires complain that they dont get the respect they deserve.

They are a protected species and as such put up a barrier to all criticisms. When you put up that barrier you make yourself someone who is not standing on there own merits.

When you dont stand on your own merits you lose the respect of the public, kids will not want to emulate the deeds of an umpire.
Umpiring which rises above these criticisms , continues the good fight will attract respect of the public.

I remember when Hird came out at criticised the Scott Mclaren who came out the next day nearly in tears.
AFL footy players face very sort of criticism on and off field but if you say the ump had a bad day it is considered blasphemy.

I say make the umpires accountable, have them rated each week . Dismiss the poor and adualte the good.

I’m glad he got thrown out. The umpires are trying to do their job to the best of their ability with the direction they are given. It is hard enough as it is. It’s no wonder why many don’t want to umpire. What a malicious disrespectful comment. Can people really not watch footy without insults!?? He should lose his membership too if Blues were serious about what represents the club. Well done to Nicholls for not taking any of the fans crap! I hope more follow suit!

It is the footy, participants should not be taking comments personally. There are still no go areas, race, sex etc but commenting on the hairiness and comparing to fly larvae is part of the deal.
It is just the public letting of the weeks steam.

Disgrace if he was thrown out for that but if he did indeed use “NTTAWWT” instead of “flog” then absolutely it shouldn’t be tolerated
