We're first week fodder imo but would like to see our progression to the flag as follows if the footy gods are feeling a bit cheeky this year...

EF: Port @ Adelaide Oval (obviously)
SF: Adelaide @ Adelaide Oval (less travel, would have won the past week at AO for confidence also)
PF: Richmond @ MCG (pressure is all on them)
GF: Sydney @ MCG (fellow non Vic team who would have also gotten there from outside the top 4 so we would share the same negatives of doing so)

If we lose I'd rather play West Coast - I'm more confident of beating Port, but I want a ticket dammit!

If we win id rather play Sydney - They've had to be up for so long now their luck will extinguish soon enough. No one can play at a high standard for so long. And they've been lucky getting a depleted GWS, injury ravaged Geelong and semi-tanking Adelaide in their run. They wont last much longer unscathed, especially now that other teams are lifting.

I am bullish about our chances this week- it does depend on which side shows up. We've shown we can bring intensity for periods - we need to ramp that up for 4 quarters.

Realistically though- we've been missing our best footballer all year. Throw NicNat into us even at half fitness and we are a 5 goal better side IMO. So if we can somehow manage to get him fit enough to play, I doubt we just make up the numbers.

There has been a lot of doom and gloom around West Coast, mostly because the age of the list and our lack of youth coming through. Fairly sure Gary Lyon thought we'd be wooden spooners next year. However the core of our list is around that 25 y/o mark so we should be there or thereabouts again next year as well.
I look at guys like Kennedy and McGovern as bookends, ably backed uo at both ends.

Thank you for semi-tanking for us. I didn't know their were different levels of tanking? Is that like you tried to lose a quarter, but not the whole game?

I'd prefer to play the Giants, just.

And then the Tiges, just.
I think the issue for opposition teams playing the Tigers might be having the courage and capacity to drop tall backs for guys than match up on their small forwards.
We left Tommo out against the Bulldogs and I really think that was because he's the weakest of our talls at ground level and there wasn't a 1 on 1 matchup for him.
It's a big call in finals to drop someone like him or Barass for a small defender but I think it might be the best option. People have to start rating the Tigers as a threat and how to manage them I think.

Yeah one of Mackenzie/Barrass would definitely be dropped.

Its called trialling new roles and positions for players
Better to test these things now than in games that mattered.
