I was saying "Stop the mosquitoes".

Forgot the repellent.
I think they were more than repellent enough all on their own.

The outrage is absolutely justified because more often than not, the ideals of such knuckle draggers are based on bullshit.Don't know why this is such a shock. AFL brought politics into the game ages ago.
Don't agree with their statement, but the outrage is ridiculous.
I care.Who cares people are over sensitive these days. Personally as a person who is not religious I would never fly that banner but a cornerstone of our society is freedom of speech. Just as followers of any religion should be free to spread the word of their religion people who oppose it should have the freedom to voice their opinion.

I agree that it is not the best place to voice your opinion. But it isn't a massive scandal like people made outI care.
I go to the footy to watch my team play not for political extremists to bring in political banners.
I am not religious, freedom of speech all for it but don't drag OUR club into ANY political discussion. Can we focus on footy for a change. Please?Who cares people are over sensitive these days. Everyone is free to voice their opinion. If their opinion is that we shouldn't build mosque people need to accept that is their opinion. People can't preach tolerance while trying to alienate and demonise those who have a different view. As I said I don't agree with what was on the banner but their opinion is as valid as anyone else'sI care too. You're not free to discriminate.
I do agree with that and seeings they chose to align themselves with the club the club should take action if they contradict the clubs beliefsI am not religious, freedom of speech all for it but don't drag OUR club into ANY political discussion. Can we focus on footy for a change. Please?

Anyone's view is as valid as the next person. Also no matter what that banner said the security would have removed it as you are not allowed to fly a banner that covers advertising space or one that has any political messageActually you're not.
There are very clear boundaries for what you are not allowed to say - because as a society we are mature enough to realise that some "opinions" are just full of shit and have no purpose other than to cause trouble.
It is why the banner was removed immediately and the guys were kicked out by security.
You cannot use "Freedom of Speech" as an excuse for racist, prejudiced bullshit.
Fighting stereotypes with stereotypes is never going to work people need to look at everyone as an individual. There are Muslim Pies supporters. I want them to be as welcome at our games as the next person. This shit does not fly. We shouldn't allow it for a second.
The people saying "stop the Mosques" were the same ****sticks who claimed to be worried about an "Asian immigrant crime wave" a decade or two ago. They were wrong then, and they're wrong now. And they were racist ****heads then, and they're still ****heads now.

While it has no place at football games and IMO is a really under thought and toxic message, you do worry if this becomes a discussion piece in the media it can to a degree legitimise these people and their use of this forum.

I do get your point but it doesn't mean I agree with it 100%. There is always going to be a minority that doesn't want stuff like mosque built that's fine people need to accept that. There will always two ends of the spectrum the people in the middle need to decide what is best for the society as a whole. Anyone I am out of this thread![]()
No - everyone's view is not as valid as the next person. If we weren't able to distinguish between right and wrong, or to improve ourselves as a society, then we would be no better than animals and still living in caves.
