Choose 4 past Collingwood players you would like to slot into the current team to take us to a premiership in 2016.

Ideally choose players you have seen play.

My 4 in no particular order:

Peter Daicos (small forward god)

Billy Picken (awesome CHB)

Nathan Buckley (FIG! yes you were)

Peter Moore (forget the Leigh Brown role forever)

Please ignore salary cap considerations, issues of Buckley being captain-coach, and the improbability of time travel.

Athas Hyrousoulakis - dangerous forward, Kent Butcher - big hair, Shane Watson - the big eared express, not the cricketer, Paul Rizonico - quality name and finally Grantley Fielke because he really was a Grantley. Add these players and start thinking premierships. That's 5 but who would you cut? I know, tough question.

If you mean into the current team to turn us into a premiership team not our best players over time:

Peter McKenna - full forward
Peter Daicos- small goal kicking forward
Graham Wright - quick wingman
Billy Picken- marking CHB

Nathan Buckley - The best I've seen in Collingwood colours, a no-brainer.

Peter Daicos - We're in desperate need of someone who can crumb and score from the ground-level. This guy's the best we've ever had at it surely, and has other tricks up his sleeve.

Tony Shaw - Grand final 2016 starting centre bounce lineup: Grundy, Adams, Greenwood, Shaw. OK, so definitely lacking in the skill department. However, I loved watching Greenwood completely manhandle Selwood and Cotchin towards the end of the year. Yes, Adams hit was pretty bad in the Port game, but remember his response to the booing for the rest of the game? He thrived on it all. Grundy has the aggression. The nuggety little Shaw would top it off nicely. These guys would be fun to watch together and absolute prick of a unit to play against. Bob's your uncle, get in, feed the ball out to Buckley, Pendlebury, Treloar and Aish on the outside and feed it to.........

Gordon Coventry - So, yes, I never saw the guy play, but kicking (almost) 1300 career goals makes me think he should be able to fix up our goal-kicking woes.

Nathan Buckley (Buckley, Treloar, Swan, Pendlebury, pretty handy)
Len Thompson (sorry Brody, this is for 2016)
Peter Daicos (forward pocket wow)
Peter Moore (wow)

We win flag then ( here is the side )

B. M Williams ~ N Brown ~ T Langdon
HB. M Scharenberg ~ B Reid ~ T Varcoe
C. A Treloar ~ N Buckley (c) ~ S Sidebottom
HF. J Elliot ~ T Cloke ~ T Adams
F. P. Daicos ~ P Moore ~ J Crisp
R. L Thompson ~ S Pendlebury ~ D Swan
I. D Moore ~ L Greenwood ~ J De Goey ~ J Marsh

E. B Maynard, J Aish, J Howe (B Grundy misses as rucks covered)

Clement: Backline General
Greening: Fyfe v JG what a matchup and highlight reel that would be.
Rose: Gun Midfielder in any era. Fast and tough.

DAICOS: 5 Goals a game easily. Cyril Rioli would shake his head in disbelief that someone else is actually that much better than him!

My mother loved Bucks but said Greening was more talented and Rose was the best Collingwood player she had seen.

True on Cyril, he is exciting, but Daicos was a better forward and much better midfielder.

If we are talking what would improve our 2016 lineup.

Monky - In desperate need of a dominant Ruck.
Buckley - Would make any side better anytime anywhere.
Clement - His leadership and talent would be priceless down there.
Neon - Just because I loved watching him play. Also would provide the xfactor forward or back.

In terms of our needs - classy small forward and outside run, I'd go with:
Daicos
Ricky Barham
Graham Wright
and
Buckley - because he was the greatest.

The team Heater plays for.
#24
Diacs

Bucks

brereton (at his best)

Millane

Barwick
Brereton was way past his best by the time he got to Collingwood.

I'm not going to include him for that reason.

But I like the idea of injecting some attitude and confidence into the team. I'm going with Darren Millane on the wing. I'm sure plenty of Hawks will be rethinking their philosophy on unsociable football.

Peter Moore would solve our second ruck/forward problem.

Peter Daicos picks himself.

And Heater comes back to bring some organisation and footballing nous down back.

With Treloar and Greenwood coming in to support Pendlebury in the midfield, Buckley won't be needed as a Captain/Coach.

I think a few of them would quite possibly wet themselves.
