Then again, they had Dipper. He and Millane - man, they were good times.

Just an inkling on player toughness here....did anyone ever see anyone ever pick a fight with either Millane, Matthews or Lockett?
Certain players just make other players nervous!
Certainly Dipper never had a go at Millane, they played on each other but everyone just knew....you picked "the Raging Bull" at your own peril;)

I recall Monkey having a good go at Lockett. Outside of that no. Matthews was a little before my time. I wonder about players of yesteryear like Mal Brown, Robbie Muir...

Clement: Backline General
Greening: Fyfe v JG what a matchup and highlight reel that would be.
Rose: Gun Midfielder in any era. Fast and tough.

DAICOS: 5 Goals a game easily. Cyril Rioli would shake his head in disbelief that someone else is actually that much better than him!
Greening would destroy Fyfe

Greening (nuff said)

Daics (address our biggest need with the best ever in that role... nice)

Peter McKenna (goal kicking god, would kick bags and take pressure off Cloke, who could then just concentrate on snapping backmen in two in marking contests and creating crumbs for Daics).

Darren Millane (put him on a wing and scare the shit out of the opposition. Also happened to be an absolutely brilliant footballer).

Bucks is my favourite Pie, but I figured that I'd trust my dad's word on Greening, and we have class through our midfield now so having both seems a waste.

I could also see the sense in adding a KPD, maybe Regan. Even though he was 185cm and played a century ago, he was the bloody PRINCE of fullbacks! Deck Reynolds said this about him (thanks Wikipedia):

[H]e made them earn every goal they kicked against him. It was great to see the way in which he shadowed them or marked or punched the ball away, and then, with great dash and a beautiful kick, sent the ball in the right position for an attack. His quick thinking and unruffled style at critical moments made him a star full-back.

Like Matthew Scarlett, only better and not a total flog (he did leave footy to become a lay brother for a while, so that's always a little questionable). Well, that's a slightly unsavoury note to finish on.

Umm... Go Pies!

Yeah I was there the day Lethal had Monkey and Ned Kelly pinch and provoke Plugger all day at Vicci Park. Bit of a non event really...we won by so much that the contest never really got going.
Mal Brown was too old and slow by the time he got to VFL but in a couple of state games he caused havoc. Bit of a thug really....snotting Trevor Keogh (a Carlton Rover)....he looked like John Bourke.....that's not tough!

Robbie Muir could go a bit....but his fuse was so short that opposition players all tried to get him in. Would have made a useful light middleweight!

yeah-nah Woosha tried a fair bit but he was more on a par with our own Nick Maxwell. He battered people in tackles and bumps and had "awkward elbows" but he didn't actually scare people the way Lethal, Plugger and Pants did.
